Worked in healthcare in various red states for over 17 years. Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Florida etc. Many patients like to talk about politics in the hospital for some reason. Specially in the last 3.5 years. There’s no such thing as a “perfect plan” for a public health emergency, nor has there ever been. Regardless of what’s done, large numbers of people aren’t going to like it. And according to people such as these, we can NEVER AGAIN have a public health crisis. But I would love to have access to some parallel universe where little or nothing was done, and the infection and death rate was 20x higher (or more). These same people would be screaming “It’s a conservative genocide! They’re trying to kill us all!”. But the hard truth is, we’ve been extremely lucky for many generations, even factoring-in the 1918 flu epidemic. It’s absolutely possible for us to have a fast moving epidemic that kills 50% or more of those infected. And if we do, any plan will be catastrophically slow getting started because of jackasses like these.

That is just terrifying. I am not American, thank God.
