I went to a huge "you are only an ID number to us" texan suburban high school growing up, so seeing a smaller lunch room makes me really envious. I bet it was harder to go through drama though, because everyone knows each other! And the back room in the caf with the couches - was that like, a seniors only space, or would people rush to claim it every day? so funny, we would never have couches like that in any of the schools I've worked in since 2017
@GarthBeagle2 жыл бұрын
The back room was the Senior Lounge. It was only for eligible seniors, those who are not failing classes, on suspension, double secret probation, etc. Underclassmen were generally not allowed, though by the end of the school year those rules often lapsed as the juniors would be taking over next and they needed to know all the secrets.

I would do anything to return to the 90s. We were so much happier back then - life was a lot simpler. When people made plans, they kept them. When you were bored, you didn't reach out to a screen. It didn't matter what brand of clothing you wore. No-one felt entitled to opportunities or ownership; you were happy with what you had. Young people had greater self-esteem, because they weren't concerned with how others judged them. Instant gratification wasn't a thing. Most importantly, people had greater empathy, because socialising had to be done either face-to-face or on the telephone (as long as your parents weren't using the line...)

You needed to have high top Nike or Reebok, Doc Martins were the shit later on, Tommy Hilfiger, and on and on. People procrastinated as much as they do now. I know I did and others did. When you were bored, many would turn on a screen. MTV, Nintendo, etc. People still felt they were owed things. Lots of spoiled kids back then like now. Young people committed suicide and had depression like now. In fact, at a much higher rate than now. www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/66/wr/mm6630a6.htm Instant gratification WAS a fucking thing. Very early 90s kept 80s fashion up until the mid 90s. I guess in the 80s it was all about 'power' or something like that, that's why the hair was big, jackets and even shirts had shoulder pads for girls, and everything was neon and colourful

Thanks for uploading this video. I always wanted to see how people live in 1980s - 1990s outside of movies and documentaries. For me it is somewhat similar just without the advance technology that we have now and like every VHS videos on KZbin people were camera shy, but now everybody is takes pictures 24/7 *giggles*. At 1:48, really hits me hard because of how much you value this VHS. It's weird that I feel some sadness and jealousy whenever I watch old videos.

this generation's a lot more open minded tho. nobody seems to care about what makes our generation good, all everyone does is complain
@gabyg93396 жыл бұрын
The teens that you described have ALWAYS been around, human nature has never changed, the only thing that's changed from then to now is the technology. Mind you this generation is a lot more open minded towards others that are different..You can't claim that people in the 80s or 90s were these perfect angels that did no wrong. The reason most of the teens shown in the video aren't plastered with makeup or groomed was because they didn't have the resources to actually get them nowadays it's easy to get those resources, you can't blame em they're everywhere.
