One night back in August 1987 after a party at Disney's Vista Village (before Vista Way), I went out to the 7-11 with a video camera and a couple friends to see what people purchase at 2:30am. In this particular video, my buddy Ken is behind the camera. I'm the guy with the Orange Slurpee. More info on this video can be found here: tinyurl.com/1987seveneleven

Chris Cameron - That's awesome. I'm the one who saved this video and uploaded it to KZbin. We have located a few others from the video and were thinking about doing another one this summer. Are you still in the area and would you be willing to stop by? Do you know how to contact the other two employees that are in the video? Email me at chris.iller@gmail.com if you want. Glad you found the video. I hope it's okay that it's out there.

Chris believe it or not, I still work for seven eleven! My supervisor just showed me tbis video about two weeks ago! Everyone one has seen it. And yes its ok, I still remember this night! Chris are you the one who video taped this? If so i got to see your roomate a few days ago! To funny! I work at the 7-11 on conroy and vineland, across from holy land. I can't believe what a response you have got from this video! And yes I was so Much happier in the 80's . Val the night manager in the video has come in my store now a couple of times, haven't seen him for awhile. I love it!!!!! Chris Cameron

Chris Cameron - so awesome. I think Val's nephew contacted me a few months back and said he showed the video to his Uncle. He said Val didn't remember that night, but confirmed it was him in the video. Let me ask you this, do you think if we did go back with a camera to that 7-11 on 535, and wanted to shoot a follow up with some of the same people...would there be any issues? Or would you know who we can talk to so that we don't get kicked out? I'm the guy buying the slurpee at the beginning. My friend is doing most of the talking. But the guy with the Popped Collar has contacted me. He is in touch with the French girl. Do you know who the girl at the cashier is? Is she still around? If you have time, I posted a blog about it all at: tinyurl.com/1987seveneleven Sorry if I'm bugging you. I've just had this video since 1987 and feel like I almost know you all. It's greet to finally here from some of you.

I can confirm. Having been raised in Russia, which during the 90s was the same as this in terms of technology (if not further back), I was absolutely shocked when I moved to the US in 2005 and how weird and shy the kids were. It didn't affect me though as by the time I moved (at the age of 15) I had already developed strong social skills and very high and unshakable confidence. It started really bad around 2010-2011 when I was finishing college and smartphones became more popular. If anything people should take it upon themselves to develop the skills and build the confidence. I personally love a challenge.

FrobblOo The issue isn't that it's a complete culture overhaul though, there will always be friendly people and there will always be snobby anti social cunts, sure. Nostalgia obviously plays part in the sadness and happiness that this video brings, but it's a fact that drug culture runs far more rampant these days, and with the advent of social media, more and more people are beginning to feel a false sense of entitlement. When I go out, sometimes I'll have an absolute fucken blast, but more often than not, I run into a large amount of people with superiority complexes that can only be attributed to internet culture that has only emerged over the last 5-10 years. So of course we can still find friendly fun seekers and party like its 1987 today, it's just that they aren't as prevalent.

Maybe it's not only nostalgia.... I feel like so many things are so much better today : fashion, food, style in general, technology of course. Thanks to the internet, our lives have been improved A LOT : we can learn everything. How to speak a language, how to cook, how to style our hair and put our make up on, how to start a business, how to make a world tour.... Being a teenager was a nightmare till a few years ago. Except for a small minority from the upper class, nobody knew what to do with their hair, with their bad skin.... Young people were a lot more socially awkward because they couldn't improve their social skills on the internet. STILL, even if technically, except for music, a lot of things sucked..... the MINDSET was different. The 80's were about EXCITEMENT.... people felt like the world entered a new era of modernity and there was that "everything is possible" feeling. Now the most overwhelming feeling is FEAR..... fear of the future, of terrorism, of demography, of poverty. My mom always told me how young people didn't think about their old days during the 80's; Never. People didn't even think about buying houses..... renting was enough. People didn't think about the future, and that's a pretty strong indicator of a happier time for me.

When I lived in Trinity Texas, it was almost like a whole separate little world, nothing but friendly people in what we called a"subdivision". Whether you know everyone or not, doesn't matter, they always smile and ask how you are.. But Houston Texas was way different. Same as where I'm from, Wildwood, New Jersey, home of scum and junkies where everyone thinks they're a "Gangsta" but in reality would get their add handed to them in the real ghetto.😂I swear, I don't belong here!

This is why I love this country. I've had so many good times like this with random people from all over the world. Don't let the media divide the human race. Show love and don't be afraid to make a joke or be kind to a stranger.

There's something about this video that just makes me smile and wish the 80s were back. America was just fun in the 80s. So many forms of pop music either started in the 80s or hit their full stride in the 80s : electronic music, new wave, rap, hardcore punk rock, heavy metal, party country, etc. Break dancing. Video games. Stock market was blasting. Teenagers were wearing letterman jackets all over the city. They weren't simple times. But it was just a fun decade.
