My God! I didn't know that one of these episodes of"Lunch With Soupy Sales"even existed? Thanks for sharing this rare piece of kids tv history.

There’s another one or two on KZbin. They’re hitting the warehouses and finding more and more ‘Lost’ episodes. Winchell-Mahoney Time as well.

I had told people that there was a time when Pookie just whistled and didn't speak! I'd never seen these early episodes since they first aired, and didn't know they survived. Thanks!

This is a treasure for sure as very few seem to have survived. I was glad when Pookie finally spoke.

My dad would make us lunch and it was a special treat to eat on tv trays and watch Soupy on Saturdays. Such fond memories. Thanks Dad

Thanks for posting this, its great, used to watch Soupy on Wnew, channel 5,in New York. At school we would bring in soupy bubble gum cards, and do the mouse, too. If you have any more of this great show please upload to your channel.

This would have been about the time I used to watch Soupy, about a month before I started school. I remember he used to make the Jello shake when he showed it as dessert for lunch.

I actually have an album Soupy put out in 1961 for Reprise Records that features him, White Fang and Pookie performing a lot of songs specifically written for the show. Soupy could sing, too,

Your Show of Shows is my favorite. Soupy Sales Show and Bilko are just behind to make me laugh. Fridays after that.

In 1961, The Soupy Sales Show was the coolest show on television. He had a great taste in music, by the way. It was the only show that would play jazz or emerging rock and roll.

I watched and enjoyed this show when I was a child although I did find it kind of weird and a bit unsettling. Sixty years later it strikes me as amazing. Sort of the Ernie Kovacs version of Captain Kangaroo.

In 1979, Soupy appeared in two episodes of Captain Kangaroo.

I was amazed to see Soupy on ABC and lunch for that matter when I watched him he was an after school show just before the HS Dance programs like american bandstand and local dance shows also. Soupy was also notorious for doing the famous Pookie Hippy finger salute and getting fired for flipping off the sponcer

OK I am here in 2024 because last night Soupy was in my dream. He was across the street from my house, hanging on a lamppost after having a bit too much to drink, demanding I bring him up to speed on the last 5 decades of my life.

Soupy's date of birth is January 8, 1926, to he would have been age 35 one day after this broadcast.

How pookie's Shimmy song n dancing didn't make it on American Bandstand...it would have been silly fun to see and dance to and who knows how many Boomers growing up with lovable Soupy Sales would have been dancing to pookie singing and buying his record. early 40s Boomer.

I used to watch these when they were transcribed to the New York station. It was before they moved there. In my opinion, Frank Nastasi was just as funny as Clyde.

This is back from when people were stupid. People actually thought this was funny? 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@Suddenlyits19607 ай бұрын
The only thing stupid here is your comment. Soupy was funny. Want to see idiotic watch Brooklyn nine nine or any of the other moronic "comedy" shows you'd likely find funny. Put on a three stooges episode or laurel and hardy from the 30's and you'll see what real comedy is. Today all the shows have to be either filthy,or utterly dumb to make it. Soupy was silly, but funny. Sorry you don't get it. My question would be why are you here watching a soupy sales video if you hate it so much? And the people of that time built the best cars, created the best music, architecture films, etc. We sent a man to the moon in 1969. Hardly a time when people were "stupid" were in that time now

And your assement that the 1960's were a time when people were "stupid" shows your own level of intelligence. people of that time built the best cars, created the best music, architecture films, etc. Unbelievable technological progress was made by the people of the 40's,50's and 60's. We sent a man to the moon in 1969. Hardly a time when people were "stupid". People back then didn't tattoo their faces and arms and put rings through their noses or go shopping in pajamas. We're living in the "stupid" society now.
