Excellent video. What causes the oil to flow through the anticavitation /make up valve from the tank? Is it due to venturi effect (due to more flow while lowering)? Thanks for your time.

Anticavitation flow from the tank occurs due to a pressure differential of higher pressure (atmosphere pushing down on top of tank fluid) to lower pressure (partial vacuum pressure in a cylinder that is moving due to external forces, and thereby attempting to draw in fluid ). Anti-cavitation check valve spring pressure would be low? 7 psi? Great job with all videos.

Yeah you're dead heading your pump and overworking your engine so if your engine isn't in the best shape, it can't handle the stress. Just a guess

Left section pilot is not connected to tank?

Thanks for writing. Both left and right pilot drains are usually tied together as one drain within a larger detailed symbol. But as mentioned in the video, the symbol for the solenoid controlled, pilot operated valve was drawn simplified. In addition, this original drawing that we animated, was from about 40 years ago. But sometimes in maintenance work, one is forced to work with older drawings that did not follow the standards we have today. The ISO 1219-1 2012 standard is certainly a better hydraulic symbol and schematic drawing standard than what was followed on this original drawing. Thanks again for writing.
