We have no plans to go to the Alpes, presently. I drove up there, from the south of France, while vacationing here,, many years ago in the summer, in the month of July, with my ex-husband. We were surprised to find there was a lot of SNOW and we were on narrow winding, one lane, mountain roads, without guardrails, with hundreds of groundhogs running around, that we had to constantly watch for, to avoid hitting with the car! Both Jeff and I grew up in the northeastern US with very cold winters and lots of snow. We disliked it so much we both moved to southwest Florida as adults, to get away from the cold and snow. At this point in our lives we dislike driving on ice and snow or being that cold. (That's why we lived in Florida for many yrs before moving to Nice) So the idea of renting a car (we don't own one here in France) to go somewhere cold, that might have snow on the ground, doesn't particularly appeal to us. We prefer looking up at the Alpes from a distance. Regarding our shoes, I have a number of pairs of "Toms" that I wear for walking and Jeff wears sneakers a lot. 😊

Great little video, thanks! I know Bordighera fairly well.. unless you specifically want a beach restaurant you’ll find plenty of authentic Italian restaurants up in the old town, often Italian Mamma type food and probably cheaper than down at the beach. Oh and I wouldn’t go anywhere over the border without my passport or Carte d’identité. Italy is a foreign country ! (They’re currently tightening up on the border in the effort to control illegal immigrants, you were lucky!)

It was actually the FRENCH National Police not Italian, that "yelled" at me. Italy didn't bother us at all. But yes, everyone is tightening up at borders suddenly

Where is Bella? You didn't take her? Even when we took train from Paris to nice last year police jumped on the train and asked for passports .
