You don't have to wait for a flash mob, nor do you have to go to Europe to experience this. Doesn't Indonesia have a philharmonic orchestra? I'm sure you have one. Go watch a performance. The Philippines has several but the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra is world-famous and watching a performance is a truly unforgettable experience.

I'm not usually willing to make much in the way of an extreme statement, but I honestly think this is the most joyful thing I've ever seen on the Internet. Cudos to the conductor, the performers, the extras -- and perhaps most of all, of course, to Bizet.

Yes, we were amazed ourselves because we thought that it would be a thing for the cameras and that people would notice. But nobody noticed anything. Mind you, we had put tablecloths over the kettle drums and put cups of coffee on them, we had violins worth a fortune in plastic bags and all our musicians were just sipping away on their coffee before we started playing.
To me, this is the perfect song for background music while chaos is happening.

very nice! A had to laugh at some of the diners who seemed suprised when it started though, had they really not noticed everyone around them had instruments with them that were not even packed?
@LundalandsFilharm6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We were surprised ourselves as we thought that people would notice us and that it was only "for the cameras". But perhaps, people are too busy taking care of eachother and conversing which is a good thing. The most surprising thing was the table of horn players as there were four horn players sitting at a long table with diners who did not notice anything. All of the musicians kept their instruments in plastic bags or trunks until the bassoon started to play. The most difficult bit was the timpani but we covered them with table cloths and put cups of coffee on top and our musicians looked like diners. But I think we were very lucky with that one!
@willowowl22196 жыл бұрын
Perhaps people really are that self occupied, and busy with their meal (and phone) to take notice of others anymore.... You guys did an excellent job suprising them and taking them back to the real world and each other! Very nice performance too, especially in these conditions. I would love to do something like this with my amateur wind orchestra one day, but I am not going to put my oboe in a plastic bag and I am sure others with expensive and vulnerable instruments feel te same way... I am glad you guys did it though, I love a good flash mob!
