Love the content Bud. My flavor for this build would be a subtle resto mod desert weapon. Modern forks bars and hand/foot controls/brakes. No crazy cerecoating anywhere. Just my opinion. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

I think its an Xc 500, not an Cr. The rear Brake Stay and the Big Tank are visible. The Gearbox should be an 6 Speed and the Ignition should have an Light Coil. Nice Bike.

The CR has a link rod on the rear brake tied to the frame, to help with braking on MX tracks. The XC (cross country) had a short rod connected to the swing arm.

Huskys CR stood for Close Ratio, which refers to the transmission, which was from earlier times when they also had Wide Ratio (WR) models offered for off road.

I had a husky cr500 in my teens. Awsome fun what a bike. Miles better to ride than alot of modern bikes. Would go like a animal was faster than my mates kx5. But had to replace the spark plug everytime i went on it that was the only downside. Oh yea and the half shot knee where i tried to stqrt it with my mate still on the back of me. Im only 5ft5 n was about 8stone wet through.

A Resto-Mod would be cool to see on this bike. I'd like to do something similar with my 76 Yamaha IT400 because it is also hard to get certain parts for and like with any old bike it's rough and missing things. I'm not doing a full on restoration because my wallet can't afford all original NOS parts from 76 and I'm not waiting a life time for hard to find parts to show themselves at expensive prices. Anything that's missing or broken I'm replacing with a modern variant or completely ridding of all together. Nothing worse than trying to build a bike and having people constantly telling you to keep it original. You can't keep all of them original, you just can't, especially with a bike where original parts are non-existent Un-Obtainium. Sometimes you just gotta move on from keeping it Original and make something fun. :)

Nice find! My 85 500 XC was a puzzle when I got it. Now it’s together, and I call her “Big Nasty” cause that’s exactly what she is. 238 pounds 6 speed 54 horse power it smokes my 1983 Cr480r! I’ve gotten mine about 90 miles per hour the front tire felt like a ski I lifted off the gas it still has about 15 more mph to go faster.

Once you get start looking you’ll find there is a Husky community online that has a ton of knowledgeable people that can help you out. Parts for my 81 430 are readily available just have to ship them in. Great bikes with character and a long history. One thing to note. The frames are chrome-moly so welding them is not as easy as a regular steel frame.

There are "Race" bikes and there are "Race Team" bikes from what I have gathered over the years.Your inserting a KLX & CRF is spot on, at least for the sake of humor! I somehow got a hold of a "Race Team" KX450f . iT IS AN '06 but my friends with 2016 RMZ 450 and 2019 YZF450 both rode my KX and their eyes were as big as fish bowls when they returned. They both said that my KX has way more torque than either of theirs. Mine was owned by a Mechanic at a Kawasaki dealership and said it ws built He said it was a "RACE TEAM" bike. I don't know even what that means but it means my 06 is faster than theirs and "Rips your arms off" according to my buddies.. My point is I think race bikes are stock but meant to be raced and a race team bike is built at the factory and rips your arms off as soon as you twist the throttle. Then again I never raced and am taking what I heard and repeating it as fact.. What do you consider to be a "Race Bike"?
@dicksplatts00711 ай бұрын
I don't know where you live but in the UK you could walk into a Kawasaki dealership and buy 2 versions of kx one which was for the Sunday warrior or pay quite a bit more for the race version which is the race prepped none factory version basically what they sold to the private teams
@hunterhill101311 ай бұрын
The 06 kx450 was the first year and it was a monster! It only has 4 gears so its got tons of torque Over the years they have smoothed out the lower and added a gear also fuel injection to tame it. If you habe a 06 kx 450 thats jetted right, thats a fast bike

He kept up with the 500's and is about 15-20 lbs lighter.
