Hi Monte! We now make a great 4x5 plate holder that was specifically designed for wet-plate so these modifications on customer's existing film holders are less popular these days.

Which plate adapter should be used with a 4x5 sheet film holder as ordered from your website?

If you'd like to send in a film holder for modification, please select one with a plastic or metal frame, such as those made by Lisco, Toyo, Fidelity, etc. The construction of the wooden framed holders like those made by Graflex or Riteway does not respond to modification as well.

Does it matter what type of wire for the corners?

Yes, they should be pure silver.

Hi Tristan, Yes--Any part of a plate that is not exposed to light will remain darker. Since the holders need a way to keep the plate held in place, you'll find full corners or edges of plates unexposed if you look up some images of tintypes
