This isn’t his best verse but probably one of his most important one to him personally. He showed it by how much time he spent on the record. I don’t believe Jay-Z thought it would get this much attention but I’m sure he’s not complaining either. Question, I wonder is it fearful to be this famous? This is why 3 Stacks retired. But at the same time, it’s a blessing to be revered and respected this much that people take the time to listen to whatever you have to say. That’s a responsibility right there. All about having a balance.

Thank you, Lupe. Most people want to comment on hip-hop but don’t really know the history. I don’t see how anybody could be a true student of hip-hop and conclude that that’s Jay-Z’s best verse. And that’s not to isolate people or shame them, but at the same time, they don’t HAVE to make big sweeping claims if they’re not 100% informed. They could easily just say “Jay snapped” and leave it there lol

I don't think it should be that surprising especially if he continues to write and practice. Younger Baby Boomers and Genxers created hip hop. Why wouldn't they continue to be good at it? The older they are the more points of reference they have, and life experience. As we continue to see, several of the greats still got it. It's up to the fans to not practice ageism and let them shine.

Jay Z is a five percenter, which he is affiliated with the Five Percent Nation was formed in 1963 by Clarence 13X, who was a member of the Nation of Islam but he split from them later. Jay has been studying this since his teens. The Five Percenters believe the black man is God. Rakim, Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy, Mos Def, Nas, Jay-Z, Jay Electronica, Brand Nubians, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Nore, AZ and others. That’s why his nickname Jay-Hova was given to him by his mentor Jaz O plus it also mean God MC. Jay also grew up in a Christian household and his grandfather was a preacher. When he found out that his grandfather molested his aunt when he was younger, it made him reject religion but after studying Islam, Buddhism, and Christianity, he forgave his grandfather, Jay felt like he found his place in this world. And he of course he also believes in God. I mean he thanked God from one of the award shows years ago.

I am like the biggest Lupe fan i will say this he has so many mind blowing verses. A few come to mind as his best Mural, Little Death, Cripple, I'm Beamin, Everybody Nose Remix Words I Never Said, Dots & Lines, The Coolest, Body of Work, Go Go Gadget Flow,

I understand that response when a great mc song starts playing, you can't hear it properly the first time cuz you start spitting as well like, a writers-reflex it's weird but it's also how I listen. Lupe a real one.

This is why DJ Khaled can never win a Grammy. No one even talks about the body of work we are talking about Jay's verse. A verse completely eclipsed the whole project.

Can I Live,Dead Presidents 1&2,Song Cry& his verse on Young Jeezy Seen It All those verses alone will kill that God Did verse! Oh yeah All I Need from Blueprint, I mean D’Evils, Heaven on Magna Carta Holy Grail. Like I don’t listen to him anymore like I used to and I’ve listen to all of his stuff. I read the lyrics for God did it was a light verse. His What’s Free verse on Meek Mill album was insane! But again to me personally #1 is Can I Live on Reasonable Doubt.
