Lupe is my all time favorite lyricist and conceptual artist. Loved this little saga. Great way to show people what music has the potential to be, true art. That can be forgotten with all the trash that's being pushed.

Lupe NEEDS to be for everybody lol I know we are all different but I truly believe he is a master at his craft and we can and *should* learn from him. Like Drogas Wave...that entire album was filled with information, beauty, sadness, art and poetry. Man Lupe blows my mind. My first Lupe song was I gotcha and haven’t turned him off since. ❤️ good job, my guy. Keep doin your thing. Hands down best breakdown channel

Love this song, his flow/cadence was so cool 🔥 -it reminded me of G-Love & Special Sauce:) Kudos to you for having such good taste in music and sharing such meticulous breakdowns with us! Fun watching your enthusiasm as you educate us about this gifted man! He is like a prophet, or messenger of Light... with supernatural skill! These important (vital) messages will hopefully influence some who need a different direction, hopefully some guys will learn the value of being a good father. Great job, Ernesto! Literally just looped back around to Lupe...everything that’s been happening with the coronavirus had me thinking about the first line of “Streets on Fire”. Anyway I ended up spiraling and listening to all of his shit again, which brought me here. But I think you may be missing a song...Superstar. I read that it’s about MYH rejection from heaven, thus being sent back down to earth “go back, whatever you did you undo “ there are also several references to The Cool, etc. I always thought the order is as follows: 1) He Say She Say- introduction of MYH 2) The Coolest- Seduction of MYH by The Streets 3)Gotta Eat- MYH come up on the streets and in the game 4) The Die- Fall of MYH 5)Superstar-MYH rejection from heaven and being sent back to earth this becoming... 6) The Cool 7) Put You On Game- The Game Background *Bonus* 8) Steets on Fire- Background of The Streets. The Game may think he’s running the show, but I think we all know that The Steets is pulling the strings. She’s literally the Eve to his Adam, tempting him with the fruit, causing the downfall of man (after man, after man) Thoughts?
@TF-tn4ft3 жыл бұрын
This is brilliant. I was with you up until the last point about Streets on Fire. The Streets is powerful but everything revolves around and runs through The Game. The Game is the ruler of this world through secret societies which is ultimately men being controlled by Satan.

I would also like to add that at the end of the song, he's also talking about how The Game perpetuates this cycle by making every loser of "The Game" seem like a winner in the eyes of onlookers much like how many gangster and drug dealers in modern society actually LOOK UP to the villains and main characters in movies like Scarface.

Been watching the series so far and I like how you break it down. I understand this video as I’m seeing it is 4 years old- The only thing I don’t appreciate is that you’re so comfortable saying the n word, covering your mouth w your finger n still saying it. It’s not just a word, if you’re not African American you shouldn’t say it. Doesn’t make you cool and doesn’t make you kin. Other than that the breakdown helps. Yes I’m black.

Missing also refers to the shooting, hence "aim for the head and hope they never come back". They won't pass as servants of his. The whole thing is from the perspective of the devil, and how he's responsible for all the evils of the world. The emphasized "ssss" at the end of lines being a reference to him being a snake in the adam and eve story.

@G_____2 жыл бұрын
“And you can’t pass if you’re missing, G” To me, this lyric also had the additional meaning of not surviving the streets if you fail a ‘G check’. The boondocks highlights this in the “Nigga Moment” episode so well when two people bump into each other and start shooting at each other for seemingly no reason at all. Even though this incident was random, people often bump into each other as a pretence to gauge the other’s reaction or, test their ‘G’.
@jovandfigueroa2 жыл бұрын
He didn't bring it up in the video, but if you take away the last letter g Lupe uses before that line, and you get "gunshot---unshot". If you're missing the g and your "unshot" you won't pass (meaning die) but also you can't pass for a gangsta without the street cred you get from being shot
