First one I’ve seen really appreciate not only the lyrical content but the music making ability Lupe displayed here especially on Cake. It feels like a mix between when he made more poppy hits. But he didn’t lose a step lyrically. And THAT? Is when you create TIMELESS records When it satisfies BOTH sides. And it is an incredibly underrated part of making music in Hip Hop

Amy winehouse left a voicemail to one of producers saying that she cant get these little battle raps out of her head and that she planned to make some rap songs. In the bible the tongue is compared to a sword and so lupe is comparing being an elite lyricist with being a samurai which you know he practices his martial arts. Its def a layered but dope concept.
