Yea, I'm Egyptian so that's the very north of Africa and we do it too. However, it means different if it's done by an adult or a child, If a parent does it in front of a child it means "i will punish you" so it's close to the Nigerian meaning. and if a child does it repeatedly and quick it means they want to go to the bathroom urgently.

It's Day 3 and i've finally got it!! Oh sNAP. Day 1: - This is ridiculous - Hurt my shoulder violently flinging my arm in the air - Discovered that if i rested my elbow on something, i could start to make a sound. Probably because it isolated my energy more towards my hand, rather than losing the energy moving my upper arm - Had to stop from the pain of my poor technique Day 2: - IMMA DO THIS. - Did it everywhere. Waiting for the bus, walking down the street, eating with friends, in the shower... - Bruised my finger flinging it down onto the tap while bushing my teeth - Learnt to go without the elbow support. Learnt to use my upper arm to just provide initial power, then let my forearm and wrist do the swinging - Discovered if I put a little Lupita attitude into it it got better, because it angled my body to throw my shoulder power into the action as well. Day 3: - Woke up and started snapping away. - Able to make a sound consistently, but realize I make the loudest sounds when I focus on pulling uP my hand, and less so on throwing. This makes it hit a nice strong peak acceleration at the bottom of the motion. - Snapping everywhere. Irritating everyone. Throwing shade all over the place.

omg i remember as kids we used to that with “Oooo you in trouble ooooo”. And other uses were forms of expression with emotions. Celebrating a win at dominos, pretty lady walks by men would “Oooo mami mami” *Snap! Didn’t know it was an African thing thought was a Caribbean thing.
@muelakpolar89007 жыл бұрын
Bruh, people should make videos attempting to do this. Me ,as an African child, I do this every time my siblings/cousins get in trouble. Hilarious 😂

The trick is the snap your wrist back up after flicking it down. Also try moving your thumb further down your finger.
