Nice video. I'm from your neck of the woods and also fish there and have had big perch. The one thing I would say to help the fish recover is flatten all your barbs - it doesn't take forever and the hook comes out istantly.

I'm just about to start Kayaking, i think i'll buy a few tethers for my gear after your experience ! Great video, thanks !
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
Personally I think tethers are a doublebedge sword, they stop you loosing tackle but if you tip your kayak then tou can get caught up in them. This is the first time it's happened to me in 10 years of kayak fishing so I won't be buying any. A bit of pipe lagging will help kep your rods afloat if it does go in and save the saftey issue

Some lovely stripeys there Nathan. Perch are quite a fragile species, I would recommend using a landing net and resting them especially if you’re bringing them up from deep water.

Quality over quantity ! Some very good perch there, in fabulous condition. I used to fish St Mary's Loch for pike and perch and, if you can find them, there are some cracking specimens. I hate rod and paddle leashes, but they do have their uses... :)
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
I fished St Mary's once a few years back and caught nothing but trout on crankbaits, lovely place to fish but a big piece of water to go searching in. I hate them too, can be dangerous if you tip thankfully this was the first and hopefully last time I knock a rod over board
