Who knows what the cast of characters might find out in their struggles, perhaps learn more of the “Wisdom of the World”? Chapter 15 Zenophi: Shattering if iron (The chase was the previous chapter) (Narrator) “The sky was filled with darkness, and the surrounding area felt a cold, foreboding chill sweeping through. A dark, foreboding entity walks through the shattered temple ruins, where once a god and a wishmaker made their last stand. He remembers his victory all too well. The feeling. The smell. The sense of accomplishment to conquer a creature said to be invincible! He had never felt more alive! But he had something important needing to be taken care of. While his victory seemed assured, that cursed god and wishmaker had made one final gambit in a desperate attempt to defeat him. A single wish to the heavens. A last act to summon someone. While he didn’t understand why this individual was summoned, and while confident he’d surely be victorious in the long run, letting this one run amuck and possibly cause trouble was not ideal… He needed to speed up the rate of his will being passed onto others. He needed someone other than himself to spread his ungodly word and darkness. While he already had a few willing participants, like that gengar, he knew that considering the consecutive failures that idiot has had so far may not be enough to deal with this… Kyle… This Kyle… He was more crafty then he realized. He seemed to have somehow completely broken his psychic connection with him he had been manipulating from Arceus’s power. He could no longer torment him in his sleep… This entity didn’t understand how that was possible! He knew this… human… might have some other tricks up his sleeve. He needed to be taken care of for victory to be assured… But… The Entity recently had an ace brought to him. An opportunity… Something that could change the course of what’s been going on, and deal with the problem at hand. He had another legendary pokemon in his care. One that was recently brought to his attention… A Cobalion… When his followers were about to strike a finishing blow to the creature, he called to them from the heavens above, and said…” (Entity) “This sword will not suffer death here! He’ll be more useful to us alive! Bring him to me! I am in need of his… services...”

(Entity) “This sword will not suffer death here! He’ll be more useful to us alive! Bring him to me! I am in need of his… services...” (Narrator) “And it was that the creature, wounded and knocked unconscious, would be given “mercy,” and he would instead be carried back to the temple, by the demonic, ungodly horde. But for what reason? What purpose? The entity had plans for him. A pool of shadow energy surrounded the entity, as he walked towards where he kept his new prisoner. The entity stood before a door now. He looked at the structure. The building was large, with gray stones, stacked on top of one another. There was a massive wooden door aligning the entrance, and stained glass windows aligning the walls of the structure, showing symbols of darkness. The entity smirked as he began to raise his arm outstretched to the door. He then made a slow, sweeping motion to the left, and the door slowly began to creak open, following the entity's arm. A rush of darkness began to pour out of the structure as it continued to open. Soon, the door was fully opened, and the entity stepped in. The entity gazed around the structure. There were ethereal chains lining the walls inside, covered in a sickening darkness that poured its power across the room. The stained glass windows began to change their picture, showing a Cobalion, being tortured in various ways. He saw the efforts his minions had gone to… turn it… But as he turned his head towards the front, he saw what he came here for. That very Cobalion… sitting on his bottom, tightly constricted in ethereal chains, pinning his arms to his side. The chains were connected to metal rings on the walls. His minions in the room turned towards the entity, and began to bow to him. The entity smiled and stepped forward towards his incredibly valuable prisoner. He saw the Cobalion panting hard, in extreme pain, and suffering from starvation… He had been here for almost an entire week, being put through suffering no pokemon should ever have to face. The Cobalion heard the creature coming forward… He weakly tilted his head up, but he also moved his body just a slight bit. As a result, the ethereal chains binding him began to cut into his steel skin! He gritted his teeth in pain, but then began to breathe very slowly again. The entity smiled and began to lean down towards his prisoner's level.”

(Entity) “Hello there… Cobalion… Or… is it… Iron will? That’s what your “friends,” call you at the pokemon paradise, Right?” (Narrator) “Cobalion slowly closed his eyes and opened them. The entity saw defiance in his eyes. He saw his hatred of him. His disgust. The entity smirked at the Pokemon. This notion gave him warmth in his darkened heart.” (Entity) “My, My… Quite the strong willed pokemon, Aren’t you… worm?” (Narrator) “Cobalion tilted his head back down. He refused to talk to the entity. The entity gave an angry scowl and smacked him across the head from the side!” (Cobalion) “AGHH… Urr... Urr… (pant)(pant)” (Narrator) “The pain was searing… His body had moved quite a bit from the attack, and he felt the chains cut into many parts of his body again! He spit out blood from his mouth and continued to pant hard. The entity held up his paw under Cobalion’s chin and tilted his head up. The entity's cold, dark eyes stared into Cobalions eyes. It almost seemed like he was looking into Cobalion’s spirit, and trying to break it with his lust filled gaze…” (Entity) “You will SPEAK WHEN SPOKEN TO, YOU WRETCHED WORM!” (Cobalion) “S… S… SCREW YOU, YOU BASTARD! GO TO THE DARK REALM, WHERE YOU BELONG!” (Narrator) “The entity gave an angry grunt. He grabbed Cobalion by the head and then slammed his head hard on the ground! And then he did it again… and again… and again… and again! The pain was truly brutal, as the ethereal chains continued to cut into his exposed metal flesh! Blood began to trickle down from his head from several thick cuts all across! Some of it getting into his eyes… Cobalion grunted in extreme pain, and panted extremely hard. He was finding it becoming much harder to breathe, as his body felt the sting of the darkness that entered and festered in his wounds. He felt the influence trying to take hold over him… He knew what that monster wanted. But… he wasn’t going to allow that to happen! The entity grabbed him by the neck and pulled him forwards a bit, the chains cutting his flesh as he did.” (Entity) “You wretched little worm! Don’t be foolish enough to anger me right now!” (Narrator) “The entity let go of Cobalion and he was pulled back by the chains into the position he was in before, the chains once again cutting into him! He felt his eyesight going in and out a bit. He was panting very slowly now. The pain was unbearable…”

(Cobalion) “Urg… Ugh… (panting)(low voice) B…Bast…ard…” (Narrator) “The entity chuckled at him and then began to grip his paws around his neck in a choke hold! The firm grip of the entity began to strangulate him! His lungs burned as his vision blurred, and he felt like his own eyes were popping out of his sockets! He felt himself starting to fall unconscious! But just as he was about to, the entity let go, and he took in a very large breath, and began to breathe heavily! The entity gave a big, nerve wrecking smile at him…” (Entity) “I’m very impressed with you Cobalion… You’ve managed to ward off my power for this long. 6 days. No food, water, and being severely punished for your lack of understanding… There’s a reason why you were called “Iron will,” back with you pathetic FRIENDS! It certainly can’t be denied at this point!” (Narrator) “Cobalion began to swish around his mouth a tiny bit, and then he spit in the entity’s face! (Cobalion) “You… You feed off a god. You… You're not strong…” (Narrator) “The entity gave an angry grunt, and began to grab his neck again. A dark power began to form around his paw! Cobalion gave a hushed scream in pain, as he felt a severe burning sensation across the entirety of his neck! The pain caused his body to move a good amount, and the chains began to REALLY cut into his entire body! Soon, the entity let go, and Cobalion began to hang his head and body limp. The entity chuckled at Cobalion. He felt a thrill watching his suffering… (Entity) “You’re a FOOL, Cobalion! There is nothing that’s going to prevent this. I know you realize that. You will be mine! You might as well give up now! There’s no point in resisting! All this pain will stop, once you finally understand what needs to happen!” (Narrator) “Cobalion tilted his head up very slowly and weakly, with one eye closed. He continued to pant. His vision was very blurry. But… He refused to become something terrible for him.” (Cobalion) “I… I… I… I won’t… give up… Y… You… aren’t going… to take… control of me. Not… Not like this… I’ll… I’ll never… become y… your general… Y… You… You might as well… kill me now… Turn me into… a mindless… drone…” (Narrator) “The entity laughed hard at the Cobalion. He began to grip one of the chains and pulled it towards where the ring was slowly. The chain cut into Cobalion, and he once again, gritted his teeth and let out a suppressed groan in pain. He continued for a bit, as the chain tightened around him and lifted him up a bit more, and more, and more. Nearly every part of his body was now being cut by the chains and he felt like the chains were beginning to crush him! He thought he could hear the sound of bones fracturing in his body! Then… The entity released the chain… Cobalion fell back down on his bottom and then was pushed forward, as the chains continued to cut into his body from the impact. Soon he was sitting upright again… He closed his eyes… He was barely conscious now…”

(Entity) “This is exactly why I need you, Cobalion! Killing you is a waste. While killing you will make you mine anyway, it’s a waste of what you REALLY could do for me! While keeping you alive with my power controlling you doesn’t make you nearly as powerful, that’s not what I need to aim for with you. You are the leader of the swords of justice. A ragtag group of pokemon known for pulling off the impossible! You… You have a tactical mind. You can lead. I need that. I need you. To lead my armies into battle. To destroy and corrupt ALL that oppose me! To kill… HIM! To establish my will across all that exists! If I kill you… you're nothing more than a worthless strong armed goon. That’s a waste of your talents. The fact that you’ve gone this long… heavily injured, weakened, brutalized, humiliated, and corrupted by my power, and yet I STILL can’t control you! This proves just how valuable you are! Your incredibly strong will could turn the tide of ANY battle and destroy ANYTHING foolish enough to get in our way! Now… Why don’t you be a good little slave, and BREAK!” (Narrator) “Cobalion incredibly slowly moved his head up to look at his mortal enemy. He opened one eye. He could barely open it, but it was enough. He looked at his enemy in anger…” (Cobalion) “Never… I’d… I’d rather… die…” (Narrator) “The entity laughed at Cobalion. He then began to use his paws to firmly grip the sides of Cobalion’s head! He pulled him forward a bit, as the chains cut into him again!” (Entity) “You don’t get it… DO YOU!? Everything has a weakness… EVERYTHING! And… as it just so happens… I KNOW YOURS!” (Narrator) “A shadowed light began to form in the entity's paws, and Cobalion’s eyes shot up! He began to scream, as his vision began to flash a few times and then began to go dark! And then, he couldn’t see anything… After a bit, he began to see something. His eyes began to come into focus. When he could see, his eyes opened in shock! He couldn’t believe what he was seeing! It was… the pokemon paradise! The many places in paradise were burning! He began to rush into his leader's home, Matt and Spitfire, which had been completely destroyed! And… he saw their bodies inside… A Snivy and a Tepig… They… They had been sliced in half! Cobalion’s heart sank as he looked in horror! The leaders of the Guardian Squad were dead! They were MURDERED!” (Cobalion) “(Thought) “W… WHAT? N…NO! MATT! SPITFIRE! WHO?! WHO DID THIS!?” (Narrator) “Suddenly… he felt his body being moved on its own, without his input! He couldn’t control his actions!” (Cobalion) “(Thought) “Wh…!? What the hell is going on!? Why can’t I control myself!?”

(Narrator) “His body moved him across the pokemon paradise. He saw the bodies of many friends he’s made there. All sliced up… All mangled… All… murdered! His eyes grew wide as he looked in horror!” (Cobalion) “(Thought) “This…! This…! This can’t be happening! What happened here!? Who did this?! Did that… bastard do this!? How… How could this have happened!? Wait… Where are the others!? Keldeo, Virizion, Terrakion… WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM!?” (Narrator) “Suddenly, he stopped, at a familiar place in the back of the paradise. A house that was built by Smith, the Gurduur some time ago. Paid with the materials and funding from Matt and Spitfire. It was… their house in the Pokemon Paradise. The entire upper part of the house seems to have been sliced off. A long, horizontal cut could be seen separating a good portion of the house, and the roof had fallen off to the left side of the house and crumbled to bits! His heart sank again…” (Cobalion) “(Thought) N…No! This! This Can’t be! I…! I…!” (Narrator) “As Cobalion looked forward, he was finally able to control himself again! He began to rush to his home to look inside to see if his friends had made it out safely! And inside… As he entered… his eyes grew wide, and his worst fears had been realized… He saw his closest companions… His swords… with severe cuts all over their bodies! Blood trails lined the floor. Tears began to form in Cobalion’s eyes… He couldn’t believe what he was seeing…” (Cobalion) “N…No… This… This can’t be… N… No… They can’t be… No…” (Narrator) “As Cobalion was about to continue, he heard someone coughing in the room! He turned his head, and saw Keldeo moving a bit and coughing up a bit of blood. Cobalion gasped and rushed to his side and sat down right next to him! He placed his hoove under Keldeo’s head and began to lift it up a bit towards him!” (Cobalion) “Oh… Oh my god! Keldeo! You… You’re still alive! (Keldeo) “(Cough)(Cough) Y… You….” (Cobalion) “Yes! It’s me Keldeo! I’m here for you! You’re going to be okay!” (Narrator) “Keldeo coughed a few more times, as blood continued to drip onto the floor. Keldeo slowly opened his eyes towards Cobalion.” (Keldeo) “W… Why…? Why… did you do it? How… How could… you?” (Cobalion) “Wha…! What do you mean?!” (Keldeo) “You… You know already… Y… You… did this…” (Cobalion) “Wh…! What!? I don’t…?!” (Narrator) “Keldeo then slowly closed his eyes and then grew limp in Cobalion's hoove. Cobalion put his paw where his wrist was to try to feel his pulse. But… there was none. He had succumbed to his wounds. He was gone… Cobalion’s heart broke apart. He had lost everything… (Cobalion) “No! NO! KELDEO! NO!”

"I still don't get it." Dismas said. They had been dispatched to this forest with seemingly little explanation. "Of course you don't, you've only been breifed on Half the details." Alhazred said. Alhazerd was the Occultist of the group. A man who dabbled in the acts of Eldritch entites. "The heir seeks to make an aquaintance here." Alhazred stated, "A creature the Heir, and I ,think is connected to the Affliction." Silence fell through they group, as the all realized the horrific possible implication. "No, we aren't walking into the darkness itself, the foe we may meet can probably easily be coersed into coming with us, with either words or club." He added, trying to calm their fears. But their was still a bit of aphension in the group. The Darkest Dungeon still hung in their minds like a black fog. One does not simply forget what one sees there. "Then why am i lugging around this sack of torches if the sun's shining!" Boudica barked. Ah, the the Hellion, the least civilized of the Guild, but what she lacked in rehtoric she made up in barbaric ferocity and brutality. Soon, as if prompted by the Hellion's exclamation, a shade fell upon the group, the only light shining was the ever-list candle of the Occultist which sat upon his head. "That." the Occultist stated. As Dismas fumbled in the dark for his tinderbox, and the group hurriedly tried to light a torch.
