Not killing Pyromancer with Spellbomb T12 killed me
@subtleknife19 ай бұрын
Ya that was tough. I think playing the strix after knowingly drawing it off the previous subtlety tricked his brain into thinking he lurrus’d the strix

@30:25 I think it's better to play mom and Bauble specifically so that if you need to sac bodyguard on OP's next turn you have mom up on your upkeep. That was the line I would have taken, but I wasn't sure. Obviously in hindsight it would have worked better, but there was certainly value in having the spellbomb up to kill something if you needed to.
@kujabuja9 ай бұрын
M1G1 was pretty nuts, and the most important card of that whole slog was probably Gitaxian Probe funnily enough. Always love a good lurrus control deck. Also... Not that I'm tracking it or anything, but I think we continue to have never passed remand except for power
@giancarlocafaro67349 ай бұрын
Probe is my favorite magic card. Such a subtle effect yet it pretty much defines every game it’s played in.

@@LSVargas I know why it happened; multitasking gets the best of us. At least it's a rare error for you. I struggle to talk and play, and don't fare so well.
@Anusien8 ай бұрын
I don’t even think it’s multitasking. I think he clearly was thinking about the Strix having been played by Lurrus and forgot that it was hit by Subtlety. He doesn’t forget on the next turn.
@bumpasaurus4879 ай бұрын
30:11 after remanding your own lurrus to avoid countering from memory lapse, you drew mother of runes. Wouldn’t a good line then be to play the MOM instead of the lurrus now? If MOM survives the pyro with help from bodyguard, like the plan was with lurrus, it will then protect lurrus the following turn. But there’s the added bonus of if he gets lucky enough to kill both, then you can just play lurrus after and possibly ride it to victory without help since his last few removals were used on the 2 protector 1/1s.

Connor not drawing Ancestral G1 is even funnier because he saw every card in his deck and it was guaranteed to deck you…if not for the Narset he had to play before it 😂
@fjordojustice9 ай бұрын
Pretty funny how differently Lurrus decks have to play when they have zero ways to recur Lurrus from the graveyard vs having even one such effect. Unearth in the deck would have drastically changed M1G1, that's for sure (though the need to protect Lurrus made it a sick game).

Match 1 was the way Garfield intended it. Such a back and fourth battle. It was anyones game at any point they could plow through. Lurrus is just busted in your value low curve decks!
@juhalinnanen30628 ай бұрын
Enjoyed these games a lot and realized that part of it was that the games were tight, with no one running away with the game due to having initiate/monarch. I think initiate is my least favorite thing for 1v1, the otherwise interesting game is over and becomes all about initiative. That sub game is rarely even and snow balls out of control. Monarch is kind of the same, but at least that is simple mechanic and dont need to remember bunch of dungeon rooms etc!

@@kujabuja At least it leads to more fun cards for vintage cube, even if it temporarily ruins other formats.
@bumpasaurus4879 ай бұрын
While the original rules make companions much better, it’s funny that it’s not always a strict upgrade. The new rule of it going into hand, even with the 3 mana cost, allows for the play of using your mediocre companion (with light deck restrictions that you may already be meeting) as fodder for free spells like fury/solitude/force/etc.
