You sound like a wonderful young man and if I may, I learned a long time ago that we in the LGBTQ+ often have to make our families. To be honest, my family of choice has been the most loving and accepting people in my life who were the first to accept me for who I am unconditionally. I am very happy you have members of your own biological family who love and accept and you! Being a much older man in the gay community, it gives me so much hope for the future knowing there are amazing, beautiful and creative people in heart, spirit and mind like you. Please keep being you in every way and please continue to spread positivity and hope in this world that needs it so very much. Oh em gee. I am actually dripping tears onto my keyboard! I love this video so much. And you accomplished many things, because aside from being so open and lovely about such a big and precious topic, you made me begrudgingly decide to re-try Lady GaGa's music, AND to finally watch Glee. I suppose I'm particularly moved because of my dad. He was an amazing person - a musician, voiceover artist, emcee, and actor (you have definitely seen him in films, though you won't recognise his name because he was a character actor). He did so many things so well. And he was gay. I'm old enough to be your mom, and my dad was born in the mid-1930s - when being gay meant ruin. There was no way he could have had the career he did, if he'd been openly gay. So he had to stay in the closet. And he met my mom, and (obviously, because here I am!) managed to have a relationship with her and have kids. They broke up when I was 4, but they stayed best friends for the rest of their lives. My dad came out of the closet on TV (because he was locally famous). And then he had the best and most amazing couple of decades of his life! I was a pink-haired punk rock girl, and I used to visit Dad in San Francisco. We'd go to the Castro, me and Dad and his boyfriend (whose name, I do not jest, was Randy). And scope out busboys, and dance at festivals... seeing my Dad openly being himself was SO AMAZING. I remember so well when he met Randy and fell dorkily, madly in love. Swooning like a teenager, stumbling into things... he was SMITTEN. And it was the loveliest thing to see. But all the homophobia he'd dealt with, the horrible things people said and did, had done terrible damage. Dad was a severe alcoholic, and he died of cirrhosis at only 65 years old. I held his hand in the hospital and told him how much I loved him. I thought of the little boy he was - that I saw in old photos - and wished, so much, I could swoop back in time and make things better. For him, and for every LGBTQ+ person on earth. I will never really understand the weird fear some have about it, and the willingness to be so mean and hurtful. Anyway! Sorry to blab on so long, but your video absolutely smashed me in the heart. Thanks for it, and I hope you keep making videos about yourself as well as reactions - you are sooooo talented, so charismatic and I have no doubt you will make a fantastic living at this. XO
