@PanosDCC I know what you mean. I was 20 in 1990 and I really miss those days. I got to see them live in Sept 1996. It was one of the last shows they ever did, about 1 month before Chris' tragic loss. Their music had a truly special quality. Glad to know that younger people appreciate it.

@Circa7 I wasn' t even born in 1990... I was born in 1991 basically... But there isn't a single day that I miss all the great bands of that era. Lush, Slowdive, Ride, MBV, Chapterhouse... I come close to tears right now actually, hearing to "Thoughtforms"... Anyway, hope we get the time machine sometime before we die...

That bench is the Lush bench. Quite comfortable in warm weather.

No. It was shot at the Buttes-Chaumont park, in Paris, France in October 1990. I went there last winter and I managed to find the very bench where they were likely to be sitting on for this interview.

2) .....The bands were Spacemen 3, The Valentines, Pale Saints, Loop, and Lush. I really wanted the Loop so I bidded high on that one and won eventially. The rest I placed $40 bids on and lost them all. ....When I recieved the item it was a cassette "live at the union tavern 89" that some individual personally recorded for themself. They also made a pretty good quality laminated paper artwork inlay for the cover. I image saved the other bands to my H-drive in case I lost. They too were from 89.

That's why I hate paying for the TV licence fee There was The Tube, Snub, The Word, The other side of midnight with Tony Wilson (RIP), later with Jools Holland, Whistle Test and Top of the Pops! 🥁🎸🎻😇

1) .....I had "gala" on cassette tape 20 years ago (I still have it actually). The place where I made the purchase is no longer there. It was the best place in town as it was known for it's vast selection of bootlegs. Unfortunately they were busted by the FEDs in 96 or so, and went under. Anyhow, I've since updated to CD about 2 or 3 years back, and cost me $25 for mint condition. ....Some guy on ebay had a boot-assortment of early shoegaze era bands he picked up at a flee-market in Ireland.....

I can't believe how I never saw them live. I also never saw the Smiths,or, Pale saints + many more. We were very spoilt in those days with huge amounts of bands and indie labels trying to get established in the music industry. These days with the x- factor on telly, it just seems like the musicians will get worse off when unable to sign a deal with a record label. The music industry is struggling, but the internet service and other social media websites can gain interest from downloading videos online.

I suppose you have realise that being a musician means that you are entitled to your opinion on journalists. It works both ways because a music writer will need to establish himself has a professional writer. The bands have to accept this attitude It was the testing ground for all unsigned bands in the early stages of their music career. Lush did make the right decision to sign to a small label. They had a good image and style. Just probably had a few awful gigs and terrible reviews. 📸📝
