I seriously love your pots. From day one of your journey I have been following you. And I see still you have them intact. I too tried and made after seeing yours. It came out so strong.

I am glad that this video helped you to make a decision on papercrete. 😄...some important points ....1) ensure the ratio of cement ( grey ) is always more than the actual paper pulp 2) the edges are thick and 3) ensure they are cured well before use ...they def last for more than 4 -5 years

*I will tell you this! Hemp-Crete blocks with over 65% fiber are as bullet proof as the best body armor. I shot a Hemp-crete block made with 65% fine chopped hemp fiber, 25% Portland cement and 10% sand measuring - 12" X 14" X 24" and the punishment it took was AMAZING! I shot the block with both 30-06 and 50 caliber ammo and I could never get a bullet to go through it or even split it after 80 shots to the center mass. It just seemed to get tougher since at same point the new bullets were being stopped by a wall of brass and lead building up in the blocks center mass! AMAZING EFFECT!*

It should be for what it costs! Hemp is an excellent material, but until the costs can be brought down, it's not comparable to papercrete.

Curious of your thoughts…. One of my ponderings is taking an empty food container, and doing the paper crete on outside and inside of the container. I thought maybe it would make it even sturdier. But, now that I’ve heard what you said about the color change - I think I’d rather have the color change than the sturdier. However, it sounds like it’s extremely fragile when wet which worries me. Also, has anyone said if it changes color still when they’ve used colored material? I know paint would not allow that probably, but mica and such may?? Thank you for this video!!! Quite possibly the most informative one I’ve watched so far!!!
@LushGardener5 ай бұрын
yes you can do that…like covering the empty container with papercrete ….I do that on some old buckets that I have to make it look like a concrete pot yes possible.because we can’t make large paperCrete pots so yes in that large containers can be coated with papercrete ….it’s gives a old rustic pot look maybe will show it’s some video next time …. yes if the edges are thin it will fall apart when watered so we need to me thick edges …the more cement you add the more stronger they will get ….make the edges thick with more cement then it won’t break or turn very soft. I didn’t get the colour part ? you want to add colour to the papercrete pulp ?

I'm thinking putting the paper pulp in a blender or using a strainer to get a more uniform mold

Instead of using perlite(which is quite expensive), can we use "grated" polystyrene beads ?(even though it tends to be very sticky because of it's electrostatic energy)

Hi, do you think I can apply papercrete on top of smooth floor tile? I have access tile that’s a life hazard. If I have the tiles that I can fit into a box and stick papercrete on top…once it dried you think I can use it as stepping stone outside?
@LushGardener2 жыл бұрын
I think it might work …but use more parts of cement ….as far as I have read earlier people used papercrete bricks to make walls not sure how strong were they …but I think it should work once it’s completely cured it’s quite strong

probably you can get a better idea with this type in papercrete without tow mixer on KZbin maybe the video might help

Hello there! Just wished to know if two different sized pots could be used(just as in concrete pots making) for having a neater and smoother finish to the papercrete pots. Thank you!
@LushGardener Жыл бұрын
I got it …like an inner container …I haven’t tired that …it is possible but then ensure the inner container is also oiled …smooth finish might not be achieved just like concrete as the paper pulp will be textured..but it will be minimal

Out of curiosity,Lush Gardner. Can these pots be made out of newspaper instead of crate mash/tissue mash? coz of its abundance. Thank you for all your time and efforts in making such informative videos.🙏

yes absolutely…I don’t get newspapers so I use these all the waste paper I get ..but newspapers will work fantastic …and it turns into pulp faster come to cardboard

Dose adding perlite make pots less durables?
@LushGardener2 жыл бұрын
no perlite will work as an aggregate it will hold the pot together …you can use sand also but that will make the papercrete pot slightly heavy

Is it still the same without the cement? Will it still be durable and not soggy if it's just paper?
@LushGardener2 жыл бұрын
Yes cement is a must otherwise it will fall apart…..it will definitely stick together as it’s paper mash but it won’t be durable …it will become soggy as soon as it comes in contact with water and fall apart …cement is necessary 😊🪴

Hallo can you seal the papercrete pot to ensure less water gets lost? Also do you find that the pots are fine for use indoors without messing if you don't have a hole underneath and have succulent planta inside?
@LushGardener2 жыл бұрын
I usually dont seal any of the pots as I let them sit in water for a week to cure at the same time the ph in concrete also reduces a lot … hmm indoor it might work..in fact indoor the moisture will be pulled out at much slow rate …as mine are outside in sun so the papercrete pulls moisture out much faster …indoor might be slower …probably you can try out with one pot first … yes use some saucer beneath or a plastic lid …the area beneath the pot will be wet otherwise it might stain the table or the rack were it’s placed

yes you will have cut it then 🙁…..I don’t use oil for papercrete pots as I use very soft plastic and then I have like really strong afternoon sun I just turn the container upside down ….in just like 30 mins the material slips out in one piece 😂😂 if you receive strong afternoon sun then just leave it upside down for 1 hr or so ….and see if that works if not then just cut the bottle .. thank you so much for your time watching my videos really appreciate 😊🪴👍🏼

Are these paperCrete pots brittle like Terra Cotta? Or more durable or flexible than clay pots?
@LushGardener Жыл бұрын
mine haven’t become brittle…I would say they are quite durable ..they might get a little soft when wet but once dry they are Rock hard again ….more cement less pulp will make them even more hard …over all 3 yrs with papercrete m very impressed with the performance…they works just right …my papercrete pots are all outdoor through monsoon winter summer ..so far no issue
