I became pregnant with a 10 day luteal phase. (age 36, came off the pill 7 months before). I got my positive pregnancy test on day 9. My son is now 2 months old. Although these things can have an impact and it’s great to raise awareness, don’t lose hope that you can’t become pregnant because I didn’t struggle and I’m sure I’m not the only one!

6:56 So informative! I starting tracking my cycles recently to learn more about my body and how it functions, and I found I had a short luteal phase! Who knew! Everything about my cycles had always been normal, regular monthly periods, about 28 days long, no issues, my whole life. So this is great to know if I ever need to treat it! Thanks!

I have just rewatched this for the third time probably. This was one of the videos which made me release that I might have luteal phase defect and what treatment might be suitable. I finally had my first fertility consultation a few days ago and they indeed confirmed my suspicion, and they suggested I would try ovulation induction treatment, exactly as you have described in this video. This has made me more confident it would work and certainly is giving me hope after TTC for 14months. Thanks so much for a great content. Carry on doing what you do! 😊

Thank you so much for this video! My first progesterone lab work was 9 and the next month it was 5.6, so my doctor said I didn’t ovulate either month on clomid 50mg and 100mg. I’m now on 150mg of clomid and go back for lab work in a few days. It’s sooooooooo reassuring to know I actually did ovulate. Thank you again!

Thank you so much for this video. I have PCOS and started my first cycle of Femera. I’m on cycle day 15 and I went in for my progesterone level today (7days after ovulation). My doctor mentioned something about possibly having a short luteal phase, since I mentioned that before starting the Femera I was starting to have 21 day cycles. I had never heard of that. Unfortunately that evening I started spotting brownish discharge which I’m sure means my period is coming. I normally spot for days before I start my period and watching this video helped me understand so much more about my body. Thank you so much for educating us! I’m praying the next cycle works.

I'm recovering from amenorrhea so my periods are still irrugular; this past cycle was 50 days, the one before was 72 days etc. I noticed I showed signs of ovulating only 6 days ago (egg white stretchy c/m) and I got my period today, I was concerned, but I'm felling confident that I'm nourishing my body and my cycle will eventually return to a normal length, it's slowly getting shorter over time.

This was very helpful! I took a Proov test for first time at 6 DPO (peak +7) and it said I was “negative” bc it was using a higher number than 3. It read my test as a 4.8. Based on what you’re saying, it can only confirm ovulation (which it has, along with my temp chart and symptoms) but you’re saying it can’t tell me how healthy my luteal phase is or if I’m low on progesterone, right? That info about the progesterone surges was very helpful!

I have the same questions about the proov test kit. Mine were negative this cycle after my predicted ovulation. According to their instructions I didn't ovulate or I have low progesterone, but also their threshold is 10(whatever units for progesterone) which correlates to 5 in the urine test strip.
@WhatLauraLikes2018

After this video I’d say Proov can only confirm ovulation (use their app to read your strip) since that 10 is based on consistent progesterone from pregnancy, as she said.

Before any of my pregnancies, I had a normal 14 day luteal phase that I would track with BBT for a few years. After my first pregnancy, my luteal phase dropped to 11 days, and has been that way for the last 10 years. I successfully had 2 additional babies in that time period, so it didn't seem to affect my ability to get pregnant, although it seems odd. Perhaps it's caused by prolactin, since I did breastfeed all my children.

Hello! I would really appreciate someone else’s opinion. I had two miscarriages this past year (i was 8-9 weeks along but according to the ultra sound development stopped around week 6-7). Doctor told me next time I get a positive pregnancy test to start taking progesterone pills until week 13. I have never taken my blood out to test for progesterone and she says that its just something that could potentially help but is not proven to help and there are no serious side effects to me or baby so i might as well try it. Is this true? Shouldn’t some tests be done before just giving me progesterone pills? Also note that other than once or twice I have always had regular cycles range between 28-31 day cycles. The only negative thing in my cycles is my terrible breast pain that starts two weeks into my cycle lasting until my period starts)

I would live to get your take on PROOV pdg urine testing. I did 5 home inseminations and tracked the first 3 with PROOV which showed low progesterone after ovulation. But I conformed ovulation with BBT and cervical mucus. The last 2 home inseminatiosn I used topical progesterone and had 2 biochemicals. PROOV pdg showed better progesterone levels but still weren't quite as high as they should be. Last month I did an IUI in the clinic with gonadotropins due to IVF conversion to IUI. I used vaginal suppositories progesterone and became pregnant, miscarried at 5 weeks 5 days. They had to double my progesterone 3x to get it up to 14. But I miscarried the day we finally were able to get it up. My luteal phase averages 11-14 days, no spotting. Is it possible to just have low progesterone and would benefit from better support?

What does it mean if you have a longer than normal luteal phase? Or is that a thing? I have a 30-34 day cycle normally and (according to records) this month I should have a 32/33 day cycle. So that means I should ovulate on day 18 or 19. But I had eggwhite CM on day 14 which makes me think that was probably day of ovulation or right before. (Currently day 16 for me). It can all be confusing. Lol

I have luteal phase defect because I have suffered from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea. I am cycling again but ovulating much later than day 14 - last month I had a 6 day LP. Is there a way to correct this before taking Clomid?

Not a natural way to correct it. Would def check hormones after recovery from HA (thyroid, prolactin, AMH) and talk to a doctor. It can take years (many) to fully recover into an ovulation pattern

I typically have an 11 day luteal phase. I know for sure of 1 chemical pregnancy so my doc put me on progesterone and offered clomid. I know for a fact I’m ovulating because I’m seeing positive OPKs just not enough days after it. So you think the progesterone is enough or should I get the clomid? I’m worried about the side effects associated with clomid

I do have pcos & have been put on clomid (150mg), but before i took the 150mg, i was on the 50mg one & it didn't work & at that point my progesterone level was at 0.5, but this time, 9/9/23 i got another progesterone test done & my level went up to 9.1 so is that a good thing or a bad thing? & of course i am trying to conceive, i already have 1 kid from a previous relationship & my husband has no kids & have low sperm count & is on dialysis due to kidney failure, & i somewhat have irregular periods & type 2 diabetes.

Hi!!! I was diagnose with Luteal Phase Deficiency, basically I would start bleeding around 5dpo until my period arrived. One doctor told me to take progesterone from 1dpo until 10dpo, while another told me to take it from day 14dc (although I ovulate around 19dc). Does progesterone affect ovulation? Thank you!

I had a pituitary tumor removed in 2010. I have a partially empty sella. I have a very regular cycle of 27-28 days, ovulating around days 12-14. I spot 1-2 days before my period. I have had 1 live birth 17 years ago. (At 20 years old). And am now TTC with my husband for our 1st baby. I’m 38 and he’s 53. We got pregnant on our first month TTC but I had a chemical pregnancy at 4 weeks 3 days. I’m on Low Dose Naltrexone for my hEDS and will be continuing to take it though out my next pregnancy till 37 weeks my OB told me. I’m also on a low-histamine diet also. My question is, will having a partially empty sella show signs that I’m not able to keep a pregnancy? Are there any signs?

I don’t know if I have a period every month. Some months I will have a regular flow for a day sometimes only a few hours and then I spot for 2 weeks other months I only spot. I think it’s spotting. I don’t need a tampon or pad just a liner will protect me all day and I only see blood when I wipe and then sometimes there are clots in the toilet. I was just put on progesterone for 7 days for 3 months. Just started so don’t know what to look for

What about a suddenly short cycle at age 47, when perimenopause is likely the cause? My cycles were exactly 29 days for literally 34 years (with the exception of the 5 years span during my 20’s during which I was pregnant and lactating for my 4 children). Now suddenly out of the blue by cycle is around every 17 days!!! WTH?! So I’m probably not ovulating, but I don’t know when to take my Prometrium now, which was was prescribed to me last year because I was diagnosed with low progesterone during my Luteal phase (from a month-long, daily salivary female hormone test). At that time, my doctor said I was likely ovulating because the progesterone skyrocketed mid cycle but then dropped precipitously the day after. With a 17-day cycle, I don’t know when to guesstimate I should take my Prometrium at night. Also…does anyone think it’s the Prometrium itself causing me to have such short cycles all of a sudden? Could my dose of progesterone be too high?

When you say stronger signal of fsh, what does that mean? I was under the impression that you want the level of fsh to remain lower bc it's not having to work as hard to send the signal to the pituitary, otherwise it's an indication of poor ovarian reserve....and with that being said, does that then mean if you have low progesterone that the quality of your eggs aren't good?
@NatalieCrawfordMD
@NatalieCrawfordMD 2 жыл бұрын
FSH causes an egg to grow then it lowers once the egg makes estrogen. Naturally high FSH can indicate fewer eggs (because the ovary needs a stronger signal) we use this principal to get ovulation induction to work for us. Progesterone level ONLY tells you about if you ovulated, nothing about egg quality.
@CrystalM1917
@CrystalM1917 2 жыл бұрын
@@NatalieCrawfordMD thank you so much for replying in spite of your busy work and home life schedule! I realize that I mis-worded what I intended to say lol, about fsh sending the signal to the pituitary, I meant to the ovaries from the pituitary 🤪. So if your estradiol happens to be under 25 on day 3 could you assume your eggs are poor quality that have been recruited by fsh bc they are not producing adequate estrogen? If you have a longer follicular phase, is it possible that it just takes longer for the sequence of hormonal events to happen without there being an issue? I happen to ovulate typically around day 21-25 and have a 14 day luteal phase but estrogen on day 3 is 14. Wouldn't the range of 25-50ng/dl for estrogen and all the cd 3 labs now that I'm thinking about it, be based on a 28 day cycle and not a longer one? Or does that not matter bc you're on your period and the ranges are showing where your hormones should be for being on cd3 regardless of how long your cycle is? If you don't answer I understand that's a lot of questions, just hoping maybe you might bring this up in a future video!!🥰 thank you again!

Can you do a video on how breastfeeding affects fertility even after menstruation has returned?
