I wish you kids could have the true love songs and happy songs we had in the '80s. Didn't matter if a singer was Black or White or some other ethnic background. All that mattered was the soul connection you had with the singer and song writer. The lyrics were timeless and always about real love in some way. It wasn't about sex or politics or race, but just love.

I had a couple of other wedding songs one from Taylor Dayne, "I'll aways love you" and The Hawaiian Wedding song...I grew up in a mostly Japanese community and a lot of my friends were from Hawaii and there were a lot of Hawaiian influences in my community so my mom picked this song for me and me husband at the reception, it's a beautiful song 😊

@heatherdavenport82874 жыл бұрын
Wow, I didn't expect any likes on my rambling. I ended up turning that into a poem since I accidentally made so much rhyme in there. Want to hear it? Lemme go copy and then I'll paste it here... I was working as a nurse when Darrell and I met first. At CRMC, on floor 4 E, that is where we met. He called me at work within a day after he left. There was no talking just the car radio playing. Luther's "Here and Now" loudly blaring. Through the phone he showed me how he felt (lol.😊) Was a special moment for me, how it made my heart melt! God, how I miss him SO dearly! My heart and my soul aching so fiercely!😢 Rest in Peacel! MY Darrell and know my love is forever! I'm just sitting here listening to that special song reminiscing of all the wonderful days of us being together. From 8/8/08 on, it was "Darrell and Heather." Lord, how painful and how hard it is to breathe!! Forget COVID-19, this grief is killing me! It's been 6 weeks and 3 days since I've seen his handsome face. I can't help but listen to our favorite songs and cry, just knowing I'll be without him for the rest of my entire life. What do I do in order to carry on with my heart and soul so severely distraught? What can I do to ease this intense pain? Life as I knew it has now forever changed and can NEVER be the same! All I have to hold is the memories but, oh; how precious are these memories to me! To all who read this, God bless you and keep you! And, cherish the very people that you love for all too soon we perish. We just never know when our time has come. Don't leave "I love you" unspoken, soon your chances will be gone. Unavoidable is the inevitable but our love we will carry on... 😢 Darrell Glenn Davenport, I LOVE you with all of my heart and soul, so strong! When you return to get me, I'll be ready to go! 😇🤗💜💜Love Always, Your devoted wife, Heather Davenport 🕆12/23/65-2/14/20🕆 💝8/8/08-2/14/20💝 If you like this, please let me know. Thank you! The echo on his voice in the chorus takes me away to another existence. This is perhaps my favorite Luther song.. (but there are so many of them). I was always blown away by his voice, it took me a while to realize what incredible arrangements and the excellence of the players.

This is one of the #1 songs played at weddings in the 80's& 90's. Brings tears to my eyes when I hear it because when I finally got married I didn't have a wedding or reception. Still been married for 25yrs tho and can pretend it was my wedding song. ☺️
