It's fitting. Let's be honest, Nagash did it mostly to ensure Mannfred continued to suffer. What is crazier, is that he didn't bring back Harkon and just let him loose in the Sea of Souls to be a pain in Chaos's butt. Imagine that, being a Greater Demon raising an army for your god. Just to hear a shanty being sung mear moments before a fleet of flying/walking pirate ships juat gun you down from a fathom away, only to then steal your weapons and armor from your disapating corpses

@@joshuasepeda3289 Well anything in Warhammer would have some amount of goofiness injected into it, I'd argue Harkon falls into the same category as the Skaven where he can be played for laughs for the audience's sake but from the perspective of anyone in-universe he's still an unstoppable vampire lord, capable of drowning entire nations in both the figurative zombie horde sense and the literal ocean-magic sense.

@goldenhorde6944 I get that. However, the explanation of Luthor Harkon that we get seems to heavily imply that Luthor just achieves objectives through sheer luck. This vampire somehow survives battles and ambushes like he's protected by plot armor and it's only because the end times had to happen that he finally gets axed. Remember, this guy survived a magical encounter while attempting to loot a tomb protected by Lizard man magic. This shouldn't have happened. Also, he actually becomes very resistant to magic, to the point that even the rulers of the Lizard men can't just vaporize him. Even with his mind shattered, Luthor is still able to pull off feats that put him in the top tier of Warhammer fantasy characters. It's almost like Luthor has the toon force on his side. That's why I stand by my statement that "You are a pirate" from the Lazytown show just plays in his mind while he's waiting for one of his shattered personalities to take over.

Similar story for me. All I knew about warhammer 40k in 2016 is the Trump memes which made me look up who the god emperor of mankind was. I had some interest at the time but didn’t really get into it. Then one day in early 2020 I stumbled across a leutin lore video and the rest is history. Now I have 2 entire rooms of plastic crack and an entire large table in my hobby room waiting for their turn to be on the painting desk. Unfortunately I don’t just build and paint a 1-3k point army and move on to another one. I did that for sororitas and my AOS army but my world eaters are 15k points, daemons are 11k, and chaos knights are 7k…. For some reason I just really like those 3 and keep adding to them for no real reason. I guess subconsciously i’m hoping I’ll find someone that can match a 30k+ point army for a bit of apocalypse but in Texas that is pretty unlikely. What’s ironic is I’m an imperium fanboy when it comes to the lore but sororitas are my only “loyalist” forces…

Warhammer Fantasy may have the HRE with tanks, may have undead egyptians with huge golems, may have fantasy china with dragon emperors and primitive zeppelins, may have turbo industrialized persian-like dwarves or mayincatek reptiles with dinosaurs but none of that will ever beat the absolute peak of a combination that is VAMPIRE PIRATES. Luthor Harkon and Lord Noctilus are probaly the characters that the phrase "goes hard" talks about. mfkers dont care about order or chaos, they are here for blood and plunder and boy do they get it till the heroes of the story show up. The concept is so stupidly cool i even tried to make something similar in Stellaris but the lack of space monsters to zombify and the empire placements makes it hard to raid anything as a space undead fleet.

For a long while in Fantasy, I had a small army/detachment of Vampire Coast Pirates using the White Dwarf list for my general Vampire Counts list. It was awesome to see most people expecting standard Vampire shenanigans only to get blindsided by functional artillery and ranged combat to lead the mayhem.

After the Vampire coast trailer came out, I couldn't help but make my own Vampirate. Sorry for the cringe but I love writing OC's. Enter Kalys Seaspite, a Lyonnesse maiden who spat in the face of Lyonnesse family plots and arranged marriages by leaping from the cliffs to the Sea. Moved by this motion and a prayer given for a sure death, Manaan blessed her with an almost eternal beauty as she would move along his realm on the currents of the sea... I say almost because as pointed out in this video, those currents eventually lead to the Vampire Coast. In a midst of a gleeful madness, and seeing a PERFECTLY preserved body for the taking, Luthor was all too happy to try and feed on the young Princess. As his fangs sunk into her flesh, the ravages of time started to affect her as the rot and bloat from who knows how long at sea started to affect her. Being not met with fresh blood but instead sea water, Harkon was disgusted and wounded in both parts as Manaan tore what little vengeance he could against the vampire as the water opened wounds in his mouth... Allowing blood to flow into the slowly rotting corpse below him. Unwillingly giving her the blood kiss, Luthor at first played with the idea of tossing her to the sea again and letting the inhabitants therein deal with the fledgling, but already at sea for an important reason, he decided to ignore the problem and continue towards Sartosa. Having her first feeding and finding her first crew there, Kalys would soon become a menace across the Bretonnian coast. Enough eventually that a dwarvish Ironclad would be sent to settle a grudge. There she learned that Vampires fucking HATE inhuman blood and needed something to sate herself after finding she had basically risen her entire crew into undeath during the battle, cause dwarfs are WAY better than peasants at killing pirates it turns out. The crew happily turned her towards the undefended towns, and only after they started coming back with a... SPECIFIC kind of loot did she figure out why. Raising three bretonnian girls as spirits and others as zombies, she'd go on to challenge Harkon... and fail. Becoming just another captain in his fleet, she sailed in a Bretonnian Corsair named "Her Maiden's Virtue" and even picked up a few remnants from the dissolution of the Dreadfleet with some Skaven PiRATS.

I genuinely love Luther and it’s just bc if the way the VA says the lines. So when I got the coast dlc and tomb kings I was actually more into the tomb kings bc I love history but like I played Luther harkon and completely forgotnahout the tomb kings just bc of how awesome he is. I love his campaign and honestly the VA lines make it all for me. Just the way he uses the inflection and tone makes you genuinely believe it’s a raving madman. The other VAs in total war are great but for some reason luthors is just a cut above in my mind. Idk he’s one of my favorite legendary lords just bc of the VA. I love watching his lore video by the book of choyer. I love listening to the curse of the vampire coast sea shanty. He’s just so much fun to play honestly. I’m so happy pancreas covered him. I was gonna try and get him to cover it in lore crines podcast but I’m happy with this tho inwould love to hear and learn more about the other vampire coast lords.

Yeargh me harties! Where's are the bloody rum gone? So as an old skool dwarves player I stopped playing fantasy when all my friends started playing 40k and having never heard about this character before this has been a very enjoyable video. I do love vampires and pirates so getting to learn about a badass vampire pirate has made my morning a very enjoyable one so far. Love your channel!

the vampire coast undead are quite different from vampire counts too which is cool. They are all kinda self sufficient and more independent so they can do complex tasks that is needed to sail the ships and use guns and cannons and what not, granted its probs like a 30 iq person trying to do it all but their undead arent like perfectly managed movement by movement like other vampires. Also they kinda have a patreon god of sorts? In cylostras lore she is revived by stromfels (a ocean god) and presumably teaches her the lore of the deeps meaning maybe he might help them out and teach them stuff indirectly since he probably likes what the vamp coast is doing. Also their units are probably the coolest in warhammer imo the necofex colosus is the whole reason i got into total war and warhammer in general

4:55 in all fairness he literally is a corpse that washed up there, it's less him being lucky and more him being uniquely suited to the situation - sounds like 6 or two threes but I wouldn't call it luck if so many bodies wash up in that spot. Like everyone else would just drown, vampires don't need to breathe so any other vampire getting shipwrecked in the area would produce similar results
