Les Sealey god rest his soul, Fergie must have made one of the biggest gambles of his life dropping Leighton for Sealey for the 1990 cup final replay considering the mounting pressure he was coming under. And how it paid off. It was around this time I fell in love with United and was so proud that so many Irishmen were playing for them in the 80s and big Norm was my hero (after Robbo). Very sad the way his career was cut short so early.

Poor Les....he didn't have the best of games in this match...looked a better goalkeeper years later when he played for United. RIP Les.

Manchester Red Les was a very fine goalkeeper, never let Utd down.

One of my favourite ever United players, Les Sealy.

We had such a good chance of winning the league that season. Liverpool dropped so many points but we couldn’t capitalise on it because we would drop points as well. Along with 1985/86 it was probably our best chance of winning the league in the 80’s.

We beat arsenal Barca an villa an were in good form going to forest but game got abandoned an we lost momentum an lost at West Brom midweek it was over then
@mrkipling22012 жыл бұрын
@@redflag8970 yeah that ended our momentum. It was so frustrating that we couldn’t capitalise when Liverpool dropped points.

Luton Town.. One of the strangest places to watch a football match.. Had a plastic pitch, banned away fans, home fans had to be members with cards to get in, a stand of all hospitality boxes and having to walk through someone's back garden to get into the ground... Very, very strange place.. Never seen anything like it...

That made Luton one of the most disliked clubs because of that. Also due to their chairman, David Evans. Had his head so far up Thatcher’s arse he could have taken her tonsils out.

Gary Bailey was a fantastic keeper for Utd. Shame that injury cut his career when in his prime. What I don’t get, is why Atkinson bought Chris Turner, when there seemed a perfectly good replacement in the young Gary Walsh.

Interesting tactical change by Ron, playing basically a midfield diamond. I always thought that you got the best out of Robson by not playing him in a midfield two.

I remember when United were 5-0 up, Norman Whiteside narrowly missed scoring a hat trick, when his shot hit the woodwork

I wonder what Les Sealey would say if you told him then that in 7+ years time you will play and win in an F.A. Cup and E.C.W.C. Final and lose two League Cup Finals for Manchester United? ...., incredible story and such a lovely fella ...

When Luton had four stands before Millwall knocked the little one down and was replaced by a a stand of hospitality boxes (weirdest stand in English football)
