0:35 one of the problems of a guided busway - no ability of buses to overtake when another bus is stopped in front of them.

Future of travel I believe one day All of the guided bus ways will be linked together to create less traffic and pollution on the roads and faster journey times and more frequent on time buses

How can the buses keep to the straight and narrow like that?

Just express service, it will be cool the way fast than stuck of traffic jam.

We need a few of these here in Melbourne like where trains don't run anymore.

0:32 This is an excellent example of where vehicle automation could be used. Radar guided distance separation could be used to convoy the buses until they reach the end of the line, seek and prevent object obstruction impacts (or even potential 'jumpers') Just one question: Do you have to buy a ticket before boarding? It's far more efficient than hanging around waiting for someone to fumble for their change....

TheSaintST1 Depends on the system for the bus company. The one in Pittsburgh is phasing out cash for a Tap Card system.

This transportation or guided buses more economy and safe ,even safe our money too,cuz we can bring any buses from any company and if it got flat tyre,just blow and blast it off the track,easy right?
@DANEBLUEGNOME Жыл бұрын
No, because is there is an automatic safety low rail-line on the lane. Won't affect tyres burst out really. The driver knows with radio control, make sure the driver leads the way carefully, that will be a safe journey too.

i don't get why they don't just build a light rail...
@tobeytransport28023 жыл бұрын
Cause it costs more and requires an act of Parliament. These busses can run straight on the road when they leave the busway whereas trams have to use tracks. I prefer trams, as do you by the sounds of it, but it takes a lot of lobbying Westminster to actually build them whereas busways can be built by the county or district fairly cheaply
@CreatorPolar3 жыл бұрын
Because this region is too underpopulated to support light rail and plus you need to deal with parliament shit

Mannheim in Germany had a combined tramway and busway. It worked fine, only reason to scrap it was that modern buses are 5cm wider and no longer fitted on the busway.

How do they get a broken down bus off a guided busway,or if it comes off the guideway. Waste of money,more expensive than light rail.
@DDELE77 жыл бұрын
Eirug Sion Griffiths In Adelaide Australia's O-Bahn Busway they have special double ended tow trucks that can push or pull the bus off the track in either direction. But I suspect its rarely used. If there's a flat tire the guide wheels keep the bus on track. If the guide wheel breaks off the bus stays on course. So actually if designed well the buses are actually safer on the busway.
@danielrose13927 жыл бұрын
How do you solve the same problem for light rail? Whatever track technology you use, something can break down and block the tracks. At least, buses can use normal roads to go around.
@willy.william45826 жыл бұрын
Actually for some transit companies, this is the first step to light rail. Another reason this is used instead is that a train/light rail (vehicle) is much more expensive to build. This system can use already existing buses, with light rail speeds and features.
@Fallen_Angel176 жыл бұрын
If the bus got flat tyre they need to see the open track and get out of the site and do the flat tyre but if light train got broken wheel ,who will do the welding rite,light train is not light while buses we can tow it.
