Buses of England 2019-Luton Guided Busway

Another Guided Busway vid now, this time showing the Luton-Dunstable route. We see operations at the Luton end in this vid, and this route is busier than the St Ives route. It has three operators-Arriva, Centrebus and Grant Palmer, with Arriva being the dominant user followed by Centrebus with Grant Palmer just running a couple of buses per hour. A good variety of vehicles are seen with Grant Palmer's double deckers being ex London WVL's which give a good view of this ex rail line from the top deck. use the same budget of money, they'd rather build a bus line/route instead of restore the train service

I prefer a rail line over a busway but a busway is still better than just turning the whole route over to a road. At least public transport still comes out on top this way....

Cambridge to St Ives and one in the Manchester area, exactly where i'm not sure but will try & visit and film it one day....

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus I searched it up,it goes from Leigh into Manchester via Salford. I'm pretty sure it's a BRT rather than a guided busway.

Outside of Britain probably the most famous guided busway is the Adelaide O-Bahn in Australia.

Why do they have to be guided , is that not what the driver does ?

They have separate concrete tracks with raised curbs, there are side wheels the keep the main wheels from trying to mount the curbs. Only specially adapted buses may run on them.

Guideway busses run smoother thanks to the guidance and seperate running surface. Not as good as a tram but better than sharing the road with other traffic
