Enjoy the content! I've got 2 young kids, finding time to brew is difficult and I find myself trying to use shortcuts in brewing to make the beer faster. Lutra has changed the game for me, I can use it in most styles I like and it just rips through in a few days! That beer looks tasty, cheers!

Kveik is a BEAST. I'm new to homebrewing beer, but have been doing wine & ciders for years. My 3rd batch was a Backyard Pilsner extract kit with a Lal Kveik Ale yeast. It was done in less than 48 hrs, and I was still surprised even with everything I'd heard about it. It just kicked tonight in fact, so I have to replace it with the next batch...

Just stumbled onto your channel, and I figured it'd be better to comment on your latest vid, instead of a bunch of comments on your older videos. I'm truly enthralled by your attitude, production quality, and love for this fabulous hobby of beer making. I'm going to keep watching your back catalog, but I can't wait for new videos to come out. Keep doing what you're doing, it's amazing. Until next time.

I feel ya. Getting time to brew as a brewtuber is not as easy as it may seem from a viewer perspective. Nice, simple, quick. Looks like a great recipe for easy drinking. I have yet to use kveik. It's on my list of different yeasts to try for sure!
@erickm29182 жыл бұрын
Great content! I live in Arizona and need to use Kveik strains during the summer. Lutra is so fast and clean it doesn't make sense to waste the energy on temperature control to make clean pilsner (style) beers. Maybe I missed it, but I'd recommend adding yeast nutrient with the late-boil hop addition, especially for these lower-gravity style beers. I have only developed off-flavors a couple of times when using Kveik strains but it has not happened at all since I started adding a yeast nutrient. You can also add 1Tbsp of gelatin dissolved in water to the keg after it is cold if you want it to be crystal clear the next day. I usually don't bother because it risks oxidation and doesn't change the anything about the beer besides appearance. Cheers!
@ElementaryBrewingCo2 жыл бұрын
I did add a double dose of yeast nutrient to this one as well, just missed filming it. I usually add extra with Kveik. Sometimes I do add gelatin as well, it works great!!! I didn’t for this one because I got a bit lazy and no one seems to care much anymore about haze in beers so I didn’t sweat it 🤣

If this is the same (or at least similar) recipe as the other cream ale you did in a video some time ago, I actually did it with lutra too! My mother is also a teacher and she requested a light easy drinking beer for a end of the school year party she and the other teachers at her school had. And they absolutely demolished the keg. In fact every now and then I'll have some request another batch of it lol.

It is basically the same, I used lupomax cascade for this and Lutra but still a solid recipe. I remember the other one and it was super crushable too!

Hi, been meaning to ask you this. How do you maintain mash temp while recirc? You keep flame on v low to hold the temp at the desired number (65 or 66 or 67)? 👍👍
@ElementaryBrewingCo2 жыл бұрын
So I’ll just kick the burner on low as needed, usually only have to do it a few times during the mash to hold the temp. That’s the reason I bought the stainless steel basket from Clawhammer, so I can keep the grains off the bottom so nothing burns on the bottom of the kettle.

When you are crunched for time like that, ever thought of doing a double batch? Heck you can dilute it back down if you can't do a full boil. I'm sure you have enough fermenters.

Love all your videos! I've been reading about a Lutra Kveik "twang" or grape concentrate flavor. Have you experienced this in any of your Lutra Brews?
@ElementaryBrewingCo Жыл бұрын
I can’t say that I have had a grape flavor. I will say that I have experienced a bit of a “flavor” from this yeast though especially when fermented warmer. I’ve made a few pale ales with it though and kept it cooler during fermentation, 70 degrees, and it comes out pretty clean.
