A lifetime down in the woods, a man learns where all the best fiddlin' trees are and teaches fellers like us proper respect for our big brothers, the trees. One of my best old friends, a huge cottonwood down on the river, is going through the process of death. He's been around since Thomas Jefferson was president and has witnessed every important event around here for centuries. I'm gonna miss him. It's nice to hear your respect for them. Happy trails Shug.

Down here in Texas, there's a lull in backpacking and camping from June to September when it's just too hot. My kids are all (but one) in college now, I am retired from scouting (former scoutmaster), and I can get back to being on trail just to have fun. Love these videos, especially when I can't get out. And for food challenges ... I miss the gone nutty pop tarts every time I go to the store. I still look for them. Mars also discontinued the Milky Way Midnight, which was my favorite trail candy. Gonna need to find some new favorites this year.

The deck looks great and the nife is cool looking. 👍 I liked the Lustin area on my SHT hike, but it rained and was foggy. I'll be camping with my hammock on Mirror Lake in the Porcupine Mountains Friday September 13th. I'm going solo, but I do have 2 reserved. The wife can't make it. This is a long shot , but you are welcome. I would most likely be going a different direction during the day going off trail search for a ww2 B17 crash site. It's mostly debris and a little hard to find the spot. All 6 did survive with parachutes.
