Thank you for such a thorough review! I have the Timpani's and am excited to get ahold of a set of these for my equipment inventory. What do you feel are its strengths? What would be some best cases uses for them over the Timpani's?

Jonathan Furtado I’ve never touched a Timpani, but according to people who own a Timpani, compared to the taiko, is the same beautiful hardware and software, only the Taiko is a lot more powerful and more refined software. I can’t go to a corporate shoot or a music video production without the Taiko.

Awesome review bro ! Have you try powering 2x1 taiko panel with D&O lightings 900w generator

The taiko has a 4 pin XLP jack, the D&O battery has 5. It won’t match. I won’t even try. The same I wish I could do for the Godox SZ-150R. It’s also got a 4 pin.

Hi Joseph, thank you so very much for your ultra kind feedback. I use the Taiko quite a bit and it never gave me any issues. And in the rare event, should you have ANY issues, you have yet to try their customer service and tech support. They care about their name and image above anything. Every single part of this light is replaceable, AND it’s going to be repaired by the very guy that designed this panel, instead of some random guy. They have every part needed ready to fix. Now, more exciting news! They just told me they are making their very LUXLI TAIKO soft boxes and grids, specifically for this panel! Should be available soon. I have 2 of them myself. With the heavy diffusion on , is the light soft enough to use without extra soft box for corporate interviews??

Hey I just got my taiko and have a couple of issues. I only got one yoke handle so the other side keeps sliding up and down. Is that normal? Also the diffuser doesn’t sit flush so the diffuser cap doesn’t hold it down. So let’s say I flip the light upside down, it’ll just slip right out (not that I plan on flipping it upside down but I’m assuming it shouldn’t be doing that). I don’t know how to find help for it so I’m hoping you can help me. Thanks

Congrats on your taiko! 1- the other yoke handle / knob is found in the a plastic bag where the manual is. Please look for it in the package everywhere. It’s there. 2- acrylic tends to expand 0.5mm in higher humidity or temperatures, and contract in colder / less humid temperatures. Yes it can be a little bit of a pain. But in most cases it’s not supposed to do that. 3- the only reason someone would flip this light upside down is when mounting it on a ceiling. And if you do, BE CAREFUL and only use premium hardware for that as this light is HEAVY.

@@ArtVideoProductions When I unboxed the taiko, it didn't come with a handle installed at all so all I got was the extra handle in the bag with the instructional manual. I guess I got to call b&h or luxli to get my other handle... 2) sucks about about the diffusion ...I guess ill have to message lixli about it to get it replaced

@@lauddp1150 that’s correct. The second handle doesn’t come installed. Glad you have it and found it. Now... if you get the diffuser replaced, the other one will measure exactly the same identical way. I have 2 taikos, totaling in 6 diffusers. They measure the same. IMO, LUXLI should trim them about 0.5 mm so when it expands, it won’t get stuck. I’ve sometimes experienced the same issue as you do. Idk if you’re up to that but if you got skills, you can sand down a little all sides of the acrylic.

@@lauddp1150 put that diffuser in the freezer for just 1 minute and then immediately install it in the Taiko frame. see what happens... it will slide down like butter. I don’t expect it to fit in the freezer 100%, but just by exposing it to that cold blast should fix it. If you live in a cold state like PA,NY, NJ etc, just take that acrylic outside and leave it there for 10 minutes. If THAT doesn’t work, try the opposite. A little bit of hair dryer heat. Do NOT place that hot air so close. Aim it about 1 foot away and not prolonged

@@ArtVideoProductions my apologies for the misunderstanding... so my taiko only has one ratchet handle. When I unboxed it, there were zero handles preinstalled so when I searched the box I only found 1 packaged with the instruction manual. So I’m still missing one. As for the diffuser, unfortunately I’m not that crafty to be able to reduce the size lol. I got the package on B&H that came with the two diffusion panels and the carry case and I tried the other diffusion panels and ran into the same issue. It appears as though the panel doesn’t sit flush all the way down so the diffusion cap won’t lock in. When I take the panel off and keep the it bare, the diffusion cap locks in as it should. But once I put a panel in (I tried all three light medium and heavy), it appears to sit just 1mm too high and it no longer locks in. This results in the panel slipping right out if I turned the panel upside down
