Looks like new 🤗 it seems so obvious now, but I never realized purses have an interior, structural piece. Very cool to get this glimpse into what goes into manufacturing items like this. How long do these restorations usually take, where there's not significant damage or wear and tear? Would you ever consider doing interviews with your team? I'd love to hear their thoughts about restoration, their favorite items to work with, restoration horror stories, the success of the channel--whatever!

Purses don’t, Hermes handbags, some designer handbags, and other well made bags do. This is a handmade bag where no detail was spared. Having done the restoration outside of Hermes means they will never fix the bag again, whereas if you have it restored by Hermes you can keep taking it to their bag space for further restoration down the line.

Leather ages naturally no matter what the price point. They offer different leather types that are more structured such as Epsom or softer ones, such as this one which seems to be their Togo or Clemence leather. These are softer and tend to form a natural, slouchy shape over time. It is what makes the life story of the bag so beautiful. It ages gracefully :)

I bought a LV bag gtdupe years ago. I took it to the LV store in my town last week to have it repaired. The store clerk inspected my bag and immediately told me that the bag was of good quality. She pulled a current bag out of inventory and compared the tags and I found zero differences

An expensive bag like this is held up by something as common as cardboard, is one more reason never to waste money on this nonsense! The restorer's craftsmanship has lifted it to a level it didn't have before.

What else should it be held up with? A sheet of diamonds? The bags don’t lose their value, infact they are concidered as a good investment. Hermes and louis vuitton were both founded in mid 1800s. They’re the oldest fashion brands out there. They both were popular for leather goods. Louis vuitton was the person who invented the handbag and the suitcase. You’re paying for the history and for how iconic these brands are. It takes weeks to finish a handbag like this and it takes 3 crocodiles to make a crocodile birkin.

It’s not for free lol They charge you a lot for a bag restoration, but if you can afford a Birkin, you can afford the spa! I would never send my Birkin to a spa other than the Hermès one. This bag on the video, for example, has already lost it’s guarantee because it has been managed out of Hermès. If the person takes to Hermès after some years, they will not accept it. Also the thread used on it, doesn’t seem to be from “Fil Au Chinois” which is the one Hermès uses on their bags.

Amazing work and so expertly done. Anything intricate and fiddly is the kind of thing I like to do. However, if I could ever have afforded to buy a new Birkin bag, I wouldn't have let it get to the point it needed any restoration. Even a copy I bought online in the same colour gets kept in a dust bag and out of the sunlight. But then if you have that kind of money to start with, I suppose it's immaterial 🤔.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I would definitely get it cleaned and I see they are great at their craft. True masters. But for ME, I personally would not have my bag "deconstructed" and restored with "new parts" as it is no longer "original" unless it was done by the original company Hermès. I work for a luxury brand and we explicit tell customers not to alter their purchases in anyway if they would like to retain the lifetime warranty and "authenticity" as it devalues the product. Even if their are nicks and damage, it retains more value that way. If my clients insists, I tell them to do whatever makes them happy. 😁
