I just ordered a real keepall 60 no strap for $200 on ebay from a Japanese seller! Mine has a date code of MI881, which means my bag was made in january 1988. Cant wait to get, but i will professionally have it cleaned.

So some advice never compare the Canvas of a preloved mono to a fresh rep because you will start to nick pick the rep always compare a new rep to a new auth because the older models authentics were made better and the new auth are closer to how reps are being made today. Hi, love the video. Question, I just received a Louis Vuitton keepall made in 95. I noticed in your video the interior key ring is on the opposite side of the date tag. On my newly bought bag the key ring is on the same side as the date tag interiorly. Do you know if the key ring always has to be on the opposite side as the date tag to be authentic? Thanks

Louis vuitton doesn't authenticate at store. Also lv didn't start using date codes till the 80s, and those the first 2 are the month and 3rd and 4th is year. The newer ones the 1st and 3rd are the week and 2nd and 4th are year. Also make sure the first two letters match the country that says it made in. Yours is sp, so under the louis vuitton stamp should say made in france. Some are made in usa, spain, ect. But yours is dated for the 90s, they used 1st and 3rd for month and 2nd and 4th are year. Hope it helps.

Something that is also a dead give away is that the authentic keepalls canvas wraps around the bag, so one side of it has the monogram upside down, and on the replica it's mirrored.

One detail to check on all Keepalls is the count of stitches. There should be 5 stitches on the strap connected to the handles and on the shoulder strap. Most fakes have only 4 which is a compromise of quality and cost cutting. The bags on the LV website have 5 stitches (zoom in). A large concentration of "vintage" Keepalls are sold by Japanese vendors many of which produce very convincing fake bags - they all have perfect "aging stains” and patina. They often sell because buyers (including so called "authenticators" at sellers like the RealReal, Rebag, eBay, etc.) rarely look at the stitch count. Even most LV store salespersons overlook this detail when fakes are brought in to get hot stamped. The Keepall has been around since the 1930s. I'm guessing such details and quality have not changed on the classic version in Monogram canvas. Louis Vuitton could confirm but they don't share design details to avoid fake reproductions. To be certain, buy ones with 5 stitches - all the Keepalls sold directly from LV today will have this quality.

Hello. Louis Vuitton is one of the most counterfeited brands in the world. It has held this position for decades, resulting in millions of fake bags in circulation. The Keepall specifically is a relatively easy bag to fake - the Japanese have been producing "super fakes" for years. Unfortunately, these fake bags have become "real" over time because of what people share. "I bought it from XYZ so it's authentic." "The seller from the vintage store told me it was authentic." "I heard..." "I read on line..." Also, once a fake item has been "authenticated" and resold through Grailed, The RealReal, ReBag, eBay, etc., it circulates as "real." The comment from your "somebody" about their sales agent is another example and even raises suspicion. Perform a search of Louis Vuitton Keepalls after 2010 (e.g., 2011). Bags that claim to be authentic can be found with only 4 stitches, challenging the sales agent's statement bags after 2010 will have 5. Unless we visit the LV archives in France and examine a vintage Keepall (I have not), stitch count will remain a debate. Most people will claim a bag with 4 stitches is authentic, not because they have received design information directly from LV (LV does not share design specs) or because they have seen an archived example at LV in France, but because no one can prove them otherwise. It's easy to claim 4 is authentic when so many people believe it and it has not been confirmed beyond a sales agent. My opinions are based on what I've actually seen and purchased from Louis Vuitton (i.e., Keepalls and many other models with similar straps have 5 stitches). I recommend buying directly from Louis Vuitton to guarantee authenticity (if that matters to you).

Most Louis lovers, love the patina. It gives the items personality’s. Also vintage Louis is the way to go. They’re made impeccable. The newer items are not made as well. Anything after 2010 is not all that great. Trust me. ❤️
