LV3 LV1 4.3 swap into 300zx

This is the motor I really want to see swapped into everything. It's so light and makes respectable power! I want to see one in a 3rd generation RX-7, a Porsche 911, it would be Hella fun if you turned it sideways and put it in a Honda NSX. I love your car man! I still love the Z32! Keep the videos coming man!

@UpNorthCatsFan it changes a lot with different Cams. Any car with more radical cams will change its sound of course, but especially engines that were intended for big trucks and vans. They were tuned for lower RPM torque more so than most performance oriented cars. There are videos you can find of them dyno testing different cams. You might like the sound a lot more. I think they sound good for a V6 with a good cam and the right exhaust and intake setup.

Jim Wolf used to sell his Twin Pop air intakes that used the blank space in front of the radiator, under the nose panel. Would it be possible to route the piping into that same area? 🤔

I have since installed a cut down intake, that allows the hood to be installed and shut. Biggest hurdle is to get the tubing from one side of the core support to the other, and shut the hood. Check my latest video

Not the same engine. Only thing those two share are that they both have 6 cylinders.

@ wow they make some cams and things for the old one . Always good to see if I run fueltec or haltec and make a cross between the strong iron block and this new lv3 . Wonder what size pistons the new one has what is the stroke .Would the crank from a new one go in the old iron block etc etc . Full of questions lol I just read that there the same but with variable valve timing and direct injected . More efficient. WOW Being able to learn each day is a blessing. Today’s the first day I’ve heard of the new one .

Awesome work looks well done. This build hits home for me as 10yrs ago I was building 300zx the one thing that pulled me away was the unreliability of the turbo model and lack of power on the NA. I just built an LV3 for my truck so am very familiar with that engine. With a good tune you can make around 270-290whp with that cam and set up. That's well within the old 300zx turbo power with unmatched reliability of the LV3.

Look for wrecked vans, 2018 and up. They are actually better to start with, no DOD.

Right now, driving it hard and geared 4.09, I got 20 mpg. I think it would get better easily. I plan to swap in 3.70ish gears. Right now it will break loose in second gear even when rolling around 20 mph.

When you cut the last runner on the l86 headers does the las hole aligns? Did you have to modifies to bolt to head? Thanks

I cut the rear runner off of the drivers side and the front runner on the passenger side. Fit perfectly without any bolt hole changes

Problem was the same no matter which intake. It’s looking like the map for the MAF is not correct. Hope to have it worked out within the next 2 weeks.

​@tcampbell4128 the sound is there but for some reason it is too quiet. I had my volume all the way up on my earbuds in order to hear you. I'm also subscribing. Glad to see people working with these engines. And my whole family were Nissan addicts. Not so much now but we all loved Nissan in the 80s and 90s. My dad had a 83 280zx, and three different 86 300zxs. My oldest sister had an 82 280zx and an 86 300zx. Another sister had a 91 240sx. I had an 86 300zx. I never did get an opportunity to own a Z32 but it's been one of my dream cars since I was a kid. I'm obsessed with the LV1 and LV3 engines and I'm obsessed with the Z32 so I'm super excited for you man! I hope your channel takes off! Also I'm sure you already know but some people that aren't familiar with the Z32 may not know that that Nissan five speed transmission is insanely strong! Hope you enjoy that thing man!!!
