🇺🇦LVIV Shevchenko Grove! 2023 Walking tour. Ancient village. Skansen, an open-air museum

One of the most peaceful places in Lviv, where you can still find a breath of fresh air, listen to the sound of the wind and the singing of birds instead of nervous car horns, walk along the paths instead of on the sidewalks. Perhaps you have already guessed that we are talking about Shevchenkivskyi gai - Lviv Open Air Museum, which is like a small ancient village in our big city.
Klymentii Sheptytsky Museum of Folk Architecture and Life (another name is Shevchenkivskyi Grove) is an open-air museum in Lviv.
And it all started quite spontaneously, when in the 1920s, in the village of Kryvka, Turkiv district, the community intended to dismantle an old wooden church built in 1763, which had not only sacred, but also artistic value. But thanks to the efforts of two well-known Lviv residents, namely Mykhailo Dragan and Andrey Sheptytskyi, the church was saved. The former managed to see the artistic value of the church and convince the villagers not to dismantle the building, and with the funds of the latter, the church was later, under the professional supervision of Dragan, dismantled and transported to Lviv, where it was reassembled and placed on Kaiseralda, in the place where it stands and still. Such a decision to save the temple arose thanks to the idea of Hilarion Sventsytskyi to create an architectural museum in Lviv.
