Quanchkin lake use to be my go to lake back in 2018 before my laptop broke i remember ripping alligator gar and flatheads out of the water one after another

The first catfish spot u can cast at the trees to ur right and cast right up against them and I caught a huge unique channel cat and a huge trophy blue cat and a few big trophy flathead and a unique flathead that weighed like 83 pounds

If u want to catch gar there u would need a match road and and the leader to 5 inches with craw fish and that’s what I do

Yep- that’s always ideal, but sometimes you just need to work with what you have in your inventory. (Which is usually the case with me) I’ll use a 52lb reel with a 44 lb rod if that’s all I have available
