I was a single mom of 3 when I went to nursing school for LVN. I was an activities director at a behavioral health facility and they needed LVNs and Psych Techs so they encouraged us by having some of the pre reqs on site. I went to a program at a community college also in NorCal. I stayed for a few years after I got my license but as my kids got into teen years I wanted to be home at night. I tried dialysis for a year but didn't like losing patients so frequently. Then I went to work for a urology office and loved it but didn't make enough. So I went to work at an insurance company, where I still am, and discovered I really love business and I've been there 10+ years. I'm 4 classes from getting a BA in business administration. I would never have ended up here without getting my LVN. Becoming an LVN can be a great stepping stone to finding the right career.

Oh wow! That’s awesome and you could always use the BA for business in nursing of the opportunity came up; if you still have an active nursing license.

Thanks for the encouragement! I felt all of it especially your last statements. I’m so hard on myself, but I know my passion is in nursing. I started off volunteering in the hospital and now I am a LVN.

LVN in Southern California are able to work in Hospitals I'm not sure about other States but in California, they are Good with hIRING RNs in a hospital even including Emergency department trauma teams. I've switched Gears recently I decided on going to Radiology in an X-RAY technologist school where upon completion I will have an associate's degree in Radiology, and it's a very sought-after health career they are needed all over the U.S. in hospitals. but I super respect Nursing as a career path wether CNA, LVN, or RN or MSN it's all a nursing career.

All Nurses at my work encourage us CNAs to start as a LVN, then do the bridge later because is worth the raise, specially living in CA. My LVNs live pretty comfortably and working 2 jobs makes it a lot better. To each their own. I really wanted to do RN first. But I also have 3 children, LVN it is and I am exited! I know my journey is a long one but it'll be worth it. Thank you for sharing! I am definitely subscribing!

I have to do the LVN program first, I have the G.I. bill and it's gonna cover me for a one-year time frame which works out perfectly because most of these schools are 12 or 13 months long. the school I have decided to enroll at is over 30k$ but it's only a year long and it's full time and it's an accelerated course that's the way I've decided to go. I am in Southern California and I've seen lots of schools and some are very very expensive depending on many things but the main thing is I really look forward to the private school Vocational school route. meantime thank you for these video's I am anxious to start already.

Any school recommendations in SoCal?
@gunchief0811 Жыл бұрын
@@l0St03807 yes there are quite a few good ones, I recently changed my career choice and I am now going to school for X-RAY technologist which is a two-year Associates degree in the science of radiology it pays very similar to the LVN field but actually more in many cases it's a specialty in the health care world and it's technical skills and a lot of Clinical hours to become certified much more Clinical hours than the LVN program I was originally signed up for, meantime there are so many good schools in Southern California that u can't really miss. the LVN schools in southern California are about 13 months on average some are more some are Less. but the shortest one I saw was 12 month's the longer ones are about 18 month's .. Concorde, or North western are two I know of also you can use the community colleges to get an LVN certificate as well.

Beautiful presentation. I have done exactly what you did. I needed to bring in an income as I have two kids. I also am a mature student and not studying for years made me choose LVN before RN. I am now applying for RN as I know I'm capable of studies. TY.

I’ve been a LPN for 16 years. Finally going back to school for my RN degree. My LPN program was only 12 months or 1 year. The bridge program from LPN to ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing) is also only 12 months. The issue with my position as an LPN is there little options for advancement and job options are more limited, at least here in Colorado, since they don’t use LPNs in the hospital. Appreciate the video. 😊

Agree 100% there are still decent options to work as an LVN. I also work as an LVN at a specialty clinic in northern CA. I enjoy mon-fri and a set schedule every workday. Although I am still going to pursue my RN license within the next year, I think being an LVN in 2022 is worth it IMO.

Hi there I’m just running into your channel and am wondering if anyone has info on a good LVN program in Southern California, preferably in Orange County or Riverside County?
@gunchief08112 жыл бұрын
here in SO-CAL we are allowed to do CNA work after our first term due to the training, and so we can get CNA jobs while we are in the LVN course...

Fingers crossed I start LVN program this December! I find out 11/29 if I get a spot. I too also have to work because kids and bills! I’m going private but nearly half will be free financial aid. Currently working as Per diem registry CNA and am make 30+ an hour and am able to work FT+ until school starts. I’m super 😊 excited to start school. I’m also an older adult re-entry student. I’m in So CA. My goal is to work 1-2 years and then bridge LVN to RN or LVN to BSN. :) already have an AS in Natural Sciences.

@kierandonahue16162 жыл бұрын
In Oklahoma all the Votechs offer LVN and they are free if you are under 24 years of age or a veteran. Another method is the WIA route if you are an older adult.

Hi, To be honest with you, I'm not sure if I like medicine all that much and sick people. But I like hands on work, for example, I can be a phlebotomist and take someones blood no questions ask, but something about reading about illnesses and sick people turns me off. Is LVN more hands on with less of the heavy signs and symptoms stuff?
@heyjustine81993 жыл бұрын
You can certainly do both as an LVN. You can do the full on bedside care or you can find positions in specialty care offices. I’m currently working in a dermatology office so no sick patients but still able to do patient care.

Hi Justine , I’m about to start an LVN program at a private school I was finalizing my financial aid today it scared me … it’s really pricey I know it’s a good investment but is it worth it do you think it easy to pay off …..
