I have a similar amp, its called a Lepy LP-838. It looks identical. I dont have the squeel or bad feedback noise coming from the speakers and i use a 12v 3A plug, it works and sounds great on my TV. I also have my Tanoy speakers and a 130Watt subwoofer connected and works effortlessly 👍

I don't think the guy doing the review albeit 7 years ago realizes that it is a class "D" and if his demo was not working he must have received a duff i.e. faulty product. I have four for cheap studio monitor drivers powering passive "yamaha NS10s" and they work flawlessly .

It's not the sound. It's the performance. Anybody can make a great sounding amp for as little as $3 these days. But it doesn't mean anything if it clips at 9 or so inefficient it can only draw 1-3 watts out of 12 volts. And it's class A/B amp in such a tight enclosure. Class A/B amps are inefficient and as a result they get hot which means this amp will eventually melt itself. So it isn't even designed to last lol.
@jonkaz746
@jonkaz746 3 жыл бұрын
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 I wrote "And it's class A/B amp in such a tight enclosure". I was obviously referring to the possible heat dissipation issues. It's truly bizarre to misinterpreted a post that doesn't even require a high IQ to be understood and then attempt to correct the poster for a mistake that he didn't make. That's it. I'm just clarifying my point. I won't bother responding to your argument because you didn't even read my 1st post properly there's no reason to believe you're going to read my next post properly.

I built a boombox using one of these amps and powering it with a 19v lithium battery. It's running 2x 1inch tweets 2x 4inch mids @8ohms and 1 6x9 subwoofer @4ohms, I built a compact T-Line enclosure. No distortion at Nominal volume. Minimal at Max Volume but it gets Hot quick. Sounds fucking BadAss...People always give me compliments and I even built 3 for friends.

such a weird concept. I have a similar amp, similar price, looks identical too, even branded "lvpin" but the innards are far different. it's a proper class D amp for starters and it puts out notably more power on my 8 ohm speakers. I cant measure it though as I lack the equipment.

I have this amp but the speakers are buzzing when the volume knob is turned up a lot. The speakers are also hissing at any volume but this could be normal but is disturbing when sitting as close as i do at 80 cm from it. It's because the SNR is about 75, but it needs to be 100-110+ i think.

I use this to power 4 Dayton Audio bass shakers 20w pucks. It works decently for the bass shakers so I don't have to run them to my sub woofer amp which could quickly burn them. I plan on getting a Dayton Audio SA100 for them to get some more power soon. I only use the subwoofer out knob just for the bass shakers and considering I paid less than $15 for the this amp it gives my bass shakers enough to feel them quite well. If you are on a very low budget then this amp could be considered to get you by while you save up for a better 2.1 amp. But for just a bit more money you can get a much better amp out there.

Looking at the timestamps for my raw video for this 12-minute review, filming it took over 3 hours - and that's 3 hours of basically working a job, where keeping an eye on the chat and making an effort to be socially acceptable would just make everything take even longer.

Amazing, I bought this exact amplifier from Amazon not long ago. I get a bit of a high-pitched squeal out of the speakers but I'm unsure if that's the amp or the PSU I'm using. I personally think it sounds pretty good. I also have a Lepai two-channel amp that I bought this to replace (although the Lepai now has a new purpose).
@FFcossag
@FFcossag 8 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Galea (UKZz HELLRAISER) As long as it's not built out of broken parts, the LP-838 could work just fine in theory. It's just built around a couple of REALLY shitty and weak ICs when it does.

+FFcossag Guess it varies on the vendor, because Lepai have an exact clone of this amp too. Although Lvpin is the only one with any reviews, all claiming it to be good. Lepai, other vendors, no reviews. Natural instinct is to go with the one others have used.

I have one because the sound on my Sceptre T.V. Is crap. I have a Lvpin 838 pushing a Bose sub and a pair of jewel cubes..For the money they sound incredible. Not audiophile standards but good enough for this 70 Yr. old. Plenty of bass and all the volume a sane person needs. I have it at the lowest bass setting and mid range on the other 2. I have a wall switched outlet so it goes off when the T.V. does so maybe it will last longer. It's a few years old and I'm totally satisfied with it. The newer model has a remote so I'll be getting it if and when it goes out.Figures it's more expensive though.

+uxwbill I'm pretty sure I've actually seen this sold as a Lepai at some stage, but that was a while ago. It also does share the same exact knobs as the Lepai, so they probably share some roots. As for a swingin' analogue needle, I sadly don't have any analogue multimeter at hand which has a coarse enough scale to work well on video .

Personally think your wrong ,its actually a good amp ,have one myself and does not have a constant 2v output to speaker when idle ,i agree its not a powerful amp but for most general use its pretty good with 2.1 speaker s connected with plenty of bass .can only think you have a bad one. For the price its a good amp ,purchased one from amazon without any issues at all.

Hey, nice video, man. I am currently looking for amplifier for these speakers(headphones): Frequency response: 20~20.000Hz Max. SPL at 1kHz: 115±3dB Max. input power: 50 mW Drive diameter: 40mm Driver unit material: Neodymium magnet Impedance: 32Ω What amplifiers would you suggest(under $20) for my headphones? I am also thinking of buying lepy lp-838 or lepai lp-838. Which one should I buy if we choose out of these two?

FFcossag I understand that in most cases amplifier is not needed. But in my case amp is needed. I have this little project of mine: forums.anandtech.com/threads/need-help-choosing-amplifier-for-6-0-sound-system.2485904/ I've got Roccat Kave: hothardware.com/articleimages/Item1981/small_roccat_kave_remote.jpg img.clubic.com/04032756-photo-roccat-kave-hp.jpg Here's the link to the official page: www.roccat.org/en-UA/Products/Gaming-Sound/Kave-Series/Kave-XTD-5-1-Analog/ Originally Kave's got built-in amplifier powering from USB. I am using my Kave without amplifier at the moment. And sound is pretty weak. So I do actually need amplifier in my case. Can you suggest some stereo amplifier for my headset, please?
@FFcossag
@FFcossag 8 жыл бұрын
I don't dabble in headphones, but you certainly do not want to buy something made to power speakers. Due to the way most cheap speaker amplifiers are built, they wouldn't even work for powering headphones, since headphones use a common ground for both channels. Get a cheap headphone amplifier.

2 volts DC shouldn't break speakers unless they are really low wattage. With 4 ohm speakers that is only 1 watt of power. You'll just hear a "pop" whenever you turn the amp on.
@FFcossag
@FFcossag 8 жыл бұрын
1 W with no cone movement to cool the coil is quite a lot to dissipate for even a reasonably large speaker. Nevertheless, DC offsets above the millivolt level are unacceptable from a performance standpoint.

Wow, Mine was terrible too, 5v offset on the sub out with no load on it,., case got up to about 80 degrees pulling 4 amps and putting loads of that thru the sub out. I had 2 18" subs on that in series so 8 ohms, no worries of overheating those. I foolishly bought it assuming it was a class T one and paid considerably more than you paid for yours.

Hi, i'm not an audiophile and I bought this amplifier to use it with my sony ss h771 6 Ohm speakers which i hooked up using the amp to my PC. Amp was cheap, less than 10$ and I thought it would be good enough for what I needed it. It works for the most part, but there is a white noise kind of sound coming out of them at all volume levels which is very annoying. It's different from the noise you hear as the volume is increased. Do you think better quality amplifiers that you mentioned will still have this problem?
@FFcossag

Thanks for the reply, I think that I'm too close to the speakers. I'm sitting around 1m from them. Amp is good if you are using it from across the room, for example. Dedicated PC speakers are usually completely quite regardless of volume and I thought this would be the same. Will try playing around a bit, with smaller speakers that I have lying around, and try buying a better amplifier in the future... cheers.

+Chris Ellingson It's probably missing all kinds of stuff. Why do you ask about decoupling caps in particular? If you're thinking about output caps to kill DC offset, it's not supposed to need them since both amplifier chips are BTL.

Never ever trust what written (drawn) on product. I get this product whith chips (alldatasheet.com can watch wath chip can do): TDA7057AQ (2×8 W) and LA4445 (1x15W) (I think this LA4445 was reused seconhand chip). [TDA7057AQ] 2×8 W stereo (40dB) (input 12v, output 8ohm 2x5.3W; input 12v, output 16ohm 2x3.5W; input 15v, output 8ohm 2x8W) ; [LA4445] (subwoofer amplifier chip) Maximum 1x15W, normal 1x11W (46dB) (2x5.5W(4ohm) 13.2v(10v-16v)) (without 2x 1000uF output capacitor)

It is literally garbage. I tried testing it on my small speaker and it blew it up. Than tried it on my big bass speakers and turned it up, nearly blew them. This Amp is an absolute piece of garbage

Nobsound Mini is good cheap amplifier(for the price ofc). Z Reviews reviewed it. If FFcossag would buy it too and do all the measurements that would be cool.

At least one Nobosound Mini variety seems to be the same as the Breeze audio amplifier that I've tested on this channel.

That's the first video i watched from you! :) But the Nobsound mini/micro has different chip (TPA3110). What if i buy that someday and send it to you for testing?

***** Hm, one of the ones I saw (There seems to be a few different ones) has the same PCB as the Breeze - it seems very far-fetched that that paticular one would be anything but identical. The other varieties, however, are certainly going to be different. If you want to send me one, I'll definitely check it out. Send me a message or e-mail if you want to know where to send it.
