LWT "Solari" ident (Long) (1986)

Used only in the LWT region.
Designed by The Computer Film Company with music by Rod Argent and Peter van Hooke. Used from 29th August 1986 to 1 September 1989.

This was NOT designed by The Computer Film Company. It was (one of three idents) designed by Perception Design, a graphic design company based (at that time) in Floral Street, Covent Garden... CAL video (also based in Covent Garden) were commissioned to do the computer animation

Did you work on these idents? Because sadly, when it comes to videos like this, a lot of people make nonsensical comments for reasons I won't get into here, so when someone contributes info like this, I need more proof.

@@TimothyMischka Hi Tim. Yes, I worked on these idents for Perception Design in '86. I designed the Genesis ident and a work colleague at the time (now my wife) designed this Solari ident... I also briefed a number of musicians - together with Skip Humphries, head of music services at London Weekend Television to provide the music for these idents...

@@Kebabofevil Completely correct. Skip Humphries supervised the Dempsey and Makepeace soundtrack around the same time and worked very closely with Standard / Bucks Music. Great work on these idents. I remember them at the time and presentation was specific about what got used when and with what. Great station branding. Rod Argent and Peter Van Hooke were the go to composers for LWT and ITV around this time . It basically went from Jeff Wayne (TV-AM / Matador / World of Sport) to them for Aztec Gold (World Cup theme for ITV 1986 - which uses the same bell piano patch as here) / The Two of Us, The Match, Tutti Al Mondo (1990 World ITV World Cup theme) etc . Their 1988 'Network Heroes' library track reuses a remarkably similar repeating hook to the LWT Genesis ident. Then Charley Skarbek took over the ITV Sport stuff from the early '90s onwards with World In Union etc.
