I have 2 plus an extra set of wings to play with. A word of warning if you have to add that much down trim in flight your CG is so far out (rear) that you will lose elevator authority as soon as you slow down. They stall dead flat, you just stalled it on approach. You could not control pitch at that speed. Not sure what fans you put in it, standard they are light 7 blade. So much more thrust per weight on the fans. My PNP is for determining flight characteristics. My kit is for upgrades. The extra set of wings is for slats. Its wing design is designed to be very unstable. The full size bird needs avionics to keep it in the air. So you need gyro for this model. It flies Ok at high speed but super unstable at low. I am OCD with my models, it's an RC disease.😁

Thanks for sharing! I don't feel so bad about re-kitting my scratch build. :) What ratio of throw do you use on the canards vs h-stab? I've only ever flown planes with the forward canards fixed and stalls are predictable.

Sorry that happened! I've been watching videos of this one the last week or so and your video came up. Liked and subbed. Cheers!

just finished a new model and got it flying and landing well. it does not like landing slow thats for sure. maybe why it came with a parachute. 3point landings seem to be the way to go. it does not like coming in with the nose up. saw a video of an X-29 pilot commenting that the forward swept wing design has issues with nose up attitude. the wing tips have a braking effect that also stalls the control surfaces at lower speeds. definitely feel it on this model. it drops like a rock as soon as you try to flare for a landing.

Just stew-ped question, is it a single 70mm 80mm 90mm or is it a twin? Seems like its a thrust to weight issue, as well as low lift characteristics. Which to my understanding is the default of forward swept wings. Also to my knowledge, wing flex at the tips is a huge problem with a forward swept wing. But I could be wrong. Great video and appreciate your information. Sorry for the loss of time and investment.

It was a twin 70. 12B on 6S 2100kv.

Even in the real jet it's inherently unstable. It relied heavily on the avionics to keep it in the air. If you can fix it, you might want to consider a gyro unless you already did. Hope she turns out well for you. It is a pretty jet.
@cwb7143 Жыл бұрын
Actually the american X-29 was relying heavily on avionics because they didn't want to invest more to make it stable. The Berkut actually solved allot of stability problems that the X-29 was suffering from. The SU-47 was actually a really stable platform
@SizzlingStu Жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if it wasn't a stall but more the AOA and airspeed led to the canards blanking the elevator and reducing or nullifying there effectiveness.
@blakemilton6566 Жыл бұрын
one thing u could try is run the canards on a separate gyro, i have a freewing su35 with the canard mod and ive found that it works really good on landings, watch videos of the real thing flying and look at what the canards are doing

So I have scratchbuilt a couple of these at 100 inches long and they fly well. I had one lx su47 kit and we put a pair of freewing 80s out of their a10 in it. Had to hotwire the exhaust out to get it bigger . I put the cg where my big one was flying and it flew great. Until I blew off one of the canards from over speeding it. I had a pair of 3600 mah 6s packs in the lx su47 . Gear were junk like you said but with those 80s it would hover at half power. When the canard came off it was maybe 100+ mph. If I did a small one again I'd glass the wings and canards and stabs and install an I-beam spar. The lx su47 wings twist badly and at speed I started to experience structural divergence

Exactly what i expected to see tbh unfortunately but i get it know i want one to the Su-47 is just sooo soo cool looking. I have some super cool/nice jets but no Su-47 because NOBODY makes a good one again very veryy unfortunate. But ALL LX Kits are soo old they ALL sound terrible SUPER under powered just not worth the money barely worth half the price they ask for their kits. But i am REALLYYYY Hoping & Praying FreeWing Remakes this to TODAYS standards would be a dream come true!!! Sorry for the loss but with MOST EDF Jets almost always fixable.

As cool as that wing shape is, I wonder if it's an issue. I have an Aggressor, which also has the same kind of profile and while it doesn't stall going straight it drops like a rock in corners. I haven't crashed it, but also never felt confident flying it because it just does weird things. Sorry to see that one crash, it looks beyond cool in the air!
@all_rc Жыл бұрын
Who makes your Aggressor? Curious to try it out.
@TheLostSquadron Жыл бұрын
@@all_rc I think the company name is Blitz RCWorks. I bought it from banggood and it came with no markings on it. Definitely has that same cool SU47 profile in the air even though it's not a jet.

Yeah there's nothing but bad experiences on the net about this jet is why most will only mess with it it they got afew dollars to spend off as an experience of there curiosity to see if most people are wrong about the complete design of this model . Nice looker but "ALL TRASH" and definitely a waste of money effort an time.

I have an aggressor and it flies like it's on rails right side up or upside down lands like a baby but it's all about where you have the CG. I also did the 2 motor mods and put motor differential in. it flat spins like a Frisbee. pretty fun plane. That's why I bought the su 47 to see how it flies

Excellent job on a very tuff aircraft. The envelope for that models is impossible to find every time. It is extremely under engineered. Great job. Time to move on from LX. Whatever you do don’t buy their SR 71….worse.
@all_rc Жыл бұрын
Appreciate it man. It was alot of work. Really tried to give it the best chance at being a decent flying model. But the engineering really was so poorly executed. Cant believe they would sell this and expect the average hobbyist to be able to figure it out. No Spar. Terrible Landing Gear. Poor Ducting. Im thinking the Wing Profile is too thin and doesnt provide adequate lift at this scale. But it was a different experience. Just wish another company made a better flying model. I really like the silhouette of the plane. Really wanted to see something different in the air.
@all_rc Жыл бұрын
Now im curious to see how much worse the SR71 is. 🤣 Just sucks that LX makes interesting models. But they are so poorly engineered and they've built a terrible reputation for themselves. The chances of these kinds of planes being produced by better companies is slim. But i hope its in the works.

@@all_rc I have really enjoyed the larger foam jets. I have the Aerofoam MB-339, the HSD T-33 and the Freewing MiG 29. I have many others, but these three have become my favorites. Maybe because they are easier for my old eyes to see…..
@all_rc Жыл бұрын
We have all those jets too! Excellent flyers! I just installed Thrust Vectoring on the Mig29. Lost a little top end speed. But i love the super maneuverabilty now! The Su35 is still my favorite for overall flying. Its not fast. But it does really cool stuff. I have the F22 and F18 for faster flights. This week will be sorting out my HSD F16. Just installed a JetFan110. So im hoping it has more punch. 🙌
