I like that you’re not walking in the sawdust, a lot of the sawmills have the controls on the other side, you’ll never look at a log the same way again, you’ll be trying to think of the wood you can get from it. Looking good.

The chatter might be because the blade is tensioned right. The guide arm will certainly help. But there’s tensioner gauge that I think these come with. I’m still waiting on mine. I find it useful to keep a few shims around when milling. Throw a few in as you passing. It does slow down the processes. But chatter molds out, dust moves better, and slightly straighter/even cuts.

We figured it out just going to slow through the wood.

SaaWeeet !!! 👍 If you get one get the debarker to save on blades especially if you drag your logs in the dirt. This is what I've learned from Mike on Outdoors with the Morgan's.

Scheib, great video! I have a guy who will cut lumber for me. If i had more time, i woukd have one myself. Ill have tonsend you a picture of the lumber he has sawn for me. Enough to build me a garage at a fraction of the cost. I could see you getting one! Especially since some of the logs you get can be milled.

I've owned my mill for eight years now. The only thing that I regret is that I got a bigger one and it to have the trailer package. I've changed my setup five times. It would easier to move the mill to the logs and for clean up in a stationary setup. I have loved owning my mill it's paid for itself many times over.

My idea is to mount this to a trailer I already have, just for around the property…

With the sawmill on place, the nice logs won't be turned into firewood. You'll get the hang of it when making the slab cuts so not have to take a 2nd slab cut on that face of the log.

I like the 4 post design on that mill I don’t like the other style when they engage the blade the heads bouncing up and down

I was looking at this machine for my new property. It’s mostly oaks that need thinning, but there’s several nice huge sugar pines… for $6k I could have a solid oak wrap around deck and all the 2x4s I’ll need for the remodel… I just heard you mention this machine would be working hard at oak, so you suggest a bigger one, or just one with a bigger motor? I have more time than money of course, but if the machine won’t keep up with mostly oak physically/mechanically , I’d be wasting money trying it…
@OutsidewithScheib2 жыл бұрын
It does great on oak right now we are using blades that are good for both soft and hard wood I am sure if we got some blades strictly for hardwood it would be even better. With that being said bigger is always better.

You don't have a de-barker for the sawmill so the blade won't get dull fast.

Hi there! What about wavy cuts? Is it an issue? As I can see, you don't have a blade guide. Is it ok without it? What kind of blades do you use? Thanks. I am in the middle of my decision: LX50 or Woodland HM126.. and it is difficult to decide.
@OutsidewithScheib3 жыл бұрын
Haven’t had anything real wavy just when the stress come out of the log and don’t notice it. The blade guide is on now. I think they are 7 degree but if not something in the middle of the road between hard and soft wood.
