Im self-thaught because my parents can't pay it. But i always believe in my self. Sometimes it's really hard. And Sometimes im crying because i can't get the skill. But i always get back up. It's 4 months that im a self-thaught gymnast. And i can do a:split, backbend-kickover, frontwalk over , handstand and cartwheel.I have 2 friends that like gymnastics but they are far away. No one in my family likes gymnastics and no one wants to help me so i need to do it on my own.

im starting to self teach myself gymnastics.. so far im still trying to do the splits but i cant get it.. right now im trying to perfect my handstands.. im able to only do a kartwheel so far.. and the basics like forward roll n backwards roll.. everyday after school i would go home and do my hw then i would do my gymnastics but sometimes i have no time.. right now i am also trying to do a backbend (: ive had many injuries and aches before.. i only have a small house and no backyard so i have to do it in my house where theres not much space.. i cant go to gymnastics as its way too far away from me.. i hope i could be like you, a good selftaught gymnast ❤️
@rxvelins13896 жыл бұрын
u should focus on one thing at a time I learned my backbend first if your still in elementary you could find some friends who do gymnastics and hve them teach u during recess thats what I did But of course I still had to practice at home im in middle school now and i hve a back yard but its covered in sticks and I really dont want to get a thorn or something like that you could always just practice in the front yard or go to a local playground sry for all the extra stuff in this comment

Don't give up I was in that position one time in my life to I quit gymnastics for about 2 years but I decided to start again because my friend reminded me of it and I just wanted to start again and it was hard for me to get all my skills back but I did it because I didn't give up and if you're trying to get all your skills you shouldn't give up either just keep trying and don't give up because then you will just stopped for and then you'll never be able to do gymnastics I hope this was some inspiring information and always remember you are the only one that can teach you and you are the only one that can tell you that you are the best I just don't give up and carry on doing it

I used to got to classes, but it was SO bad that when I got home, I ended up self teaching myself everything. :) I'd much rather it that way as well, because the coaches there aren't very nice.... I once taught myself a backhandspring on trampoline, and I was SO excited! The coaches had tried teaching me a few weeks before that and I was hopeless! So when I showed them, with a big smile on my face, they just told me that I was going too high and carried on talking while everyone else did their ten stretch jumps or whatever😒😰 After that, I quit that club and my motivation for gymnastics went away completely. But recently it's been coming back, and I'm SO HAPPY that it has! This video definitely helped! Thanks😊💜💜

I train and I still do, but I don't learn a lot at the gym I taught myself most of my skills
@rairaipoo65409 жыл бұрын
That's what coaches do they help improve the skills you've got so that next time you can do it perfectly and besides its not like they're going to reward and praise you if you've done the skill wrong so just take there advice and you'll be grateful for it when you're a level 7+ gymnast
@isabelleanderson37138 жыл бұрын
Omg it was the same at my old gym ! I taught myself roundoff back tuck , roundoff backhandspring and a regular backhandspring . Every time I showed my coaches my new skill they would shout at me for trying to do it by myself . But I'm pretty sure if I didn't try I would still be the same !! At my new gym the coaches are nice , they help me with new skills rather than tell me I can't cause it's to dangerous . You just have to find the right gym for you 😊

T.E. Gilsrud I know, but actuallly a lot of gyms possibly a lot just in my area have small gymns. So in my team theres 7 people and 1 planning for next year, and just one coach. But what i'm trying to say is, we most of the time get the same amount of attention, because the gym is s small, she can just quickly check what we're doing. Even if she's just standing there for people

I'm "a self taught gymnast." I don't push my self enough. When I went to a gym I felt pressure and pushed to do things fast and learn. I felt left out when my friend could do back handsprings and I am still afraid to do a back bend. I call myself a gymnast when in reality I'm a random girl trying to do things that she can't. Then I came across a channel called "Lyds Vyds." She was a self taught gymnast that pushed her self and got to the goal she wanted to. You inspire me. I got a beam for Christmas and now I'm starting up gymnastics again. I want to get my aerial so bad! I have so many mental blocks to where I give up. Thanks to you I'm getting my confidence back. Now I might be able to do something good. Thank you, Lydia. -Ally

I am a self-taught gymnast and all of your videos inspired me soo much! I struggled with mental blocks, injuries (ugh I hate those) and time (don't have enough time) Here are the skills I have: 1) forward & backward roll 2) handstand and hold for 10 sec 3) cartwheel 4) front and back limber, backbend kick over 5) front and back walkover 6) back handspring (I got hurt so many times in this and had a mental block for 3 YEARS) 7) front handspring 8) good and bad leg splits 9) middle splits (kinda) 10) aerial (only sometimes) I am so proud of myself for getting these skills! I still have a hurt shoulder right now but it's healing!

That's awesome!! I'm self taught too, and just got my back walkover. I'm too scared to try a back handspring but it's my dream to do one! I can only get my aerial sometimes, too. And my front walkover is the most frustrating skill for me....
@victoriafang39144 жыл бұрын
@@foreverinhandstand9456 really? I can give you some tips! So to do a front walkover you have to have a handstand to bridge and stand up. If you don't have that then I don't think you can do it. And then you also have to have a good back flexibility, so stretch back in a bridge and lean to ur shoulders a little bit and straighten your legs. Be sure to stretch in a pike sit as well after that so your back does not get hurt. Then go to a wall and use ur hands to walk up the wall with only one leg supporting (just like in a front walkover) then try it on the floor, iif your can't do it then stack some things for a higher surface and place ur hands there. Then go up with one leg and slowly progress close to the floor by removing the surfaces and getting lower until you have that. Last thing, when u r doing a front walkover, it is easier to stand up with one leg because of the flow of motion. Good luck! And also sorry for the long paragraph!

@@victoriafang3914 Thank you so much!!!! This really helps me and encourages me to keep trying! My back flexibility has improved slightly thanks to backbend kickovers and back walkovers, but I still need to work on it a lot. The wall drill/surface drill sounds good, because whenever I try to stand up from a bridge with one leg (without help of wall), I can't even though I thought my legs were somewhat strong.. I will definitely be trying that. :) Sometime this week I think I'll also work on my back handspring. I've been trying to do fast back limbers and back walkovers, but I have a huge mental block...

@@foreverinhandstand9456 I'm happy it helps! I tried doing that, and I couldn't do it either lol. Sorry, I don't think anyone could do that. But you could go first both feet and then when ur halfway up, you lift one foot and I can do that. So that means u could do it too!

I love this video. It taught me things that I didn't know right at the top of my head, but it was in the back of my brain. I have now become more committed to doing gymnastics. I hope I become better, and thanks Lydia!

I really want to give up but ı fell in love with the gymnastics.Its hard but beatiful,painful but amazing.I am self taught;I have no tramboline,spot(cause my mom never help me),big garden or confident to do back tucks.But I really enjoy while I do gymnastics. 1-You have a reason to wake up early everday. 2-You have a reason to eat healty foods. 3-You have a reason to doing workouts and streches. And your friends have a reason to say ;WOWWW!....Because youre amazing. Dont give up my self taught gymnast friends:)

Oh my goodness Lydia! Such a gr8 vid! you and I are in the same boat dude! I taught myself pretty much all of my skills. I learned an Aerial before I got a backbend kickover. lol. Now I can do round off double back handsprings and aerial walkovers and an assortment of contortion and other skills along with a front handspring on vault. You inspire me Quite a lot.
