Listen. I’ll break this down plain and simple. Prior to myself becoming a preferred driver I was getting decent rides over $1.10 to $1.50 per mile. When I hit preferred I started getting rides like crazy but they were like $6 for 10 miles, $12 for 15 miles or worse. I also got bombarded with $3 - $6 rides non stop. I dropped down in rank and things got better however I went back up. The only good thing about preferred is that, if you get a lot of $3-$6 rides you can hit bonuses quick, but the trade off is you will spend all day doing so when you could’ve prioritized better paying rides. Unfortunately, it’s a give and take. No gains. I am in Detroit.

Im in the Detroit area also and I noticed Lyft just dropped their pay scale about a month ago across the board, it’s got nothing to do with preferred. You’ll notice for a while they offered for new drivers $400 extra a week, well once they got enough drivers they lowered their rates by 30%. The goal is to rip off drivers period

they are creating a system where they can force drivers to take every ride or they don't get many offers, then when it is shown that goes against labor laws they can point to the fact the choices are made by the riders not them. In the end Lyft and Uber want to force drivers to take the dogshit rides that are offered to them but it would be illegal to do it unless they made drivers employees. So that have to come up with these half baked schemes to try and get the same results.

I don't think Chris was hearing the point that Sergio was making. I think he was saying you kind of have a list of preferred drivers, and if they are near you when you request a ride, those are the drivers who get first pick of your offer. Which I think is a pretty good idea as it would give opportunities to have repeat drivers and routers connect.

I know what you’re saying, but that is not what this is. Lyft is not letting the passenger make a personal list of their own favorite drivers. Lyft is merely trying to match the passenger with whatever they deem their “preferred drivers”.

Regarding smooth cruiser reports, they can be very inaccurate. For example, speed limits on the app sometimes differ from the posted speed. Also, I regen brake my EV and the app (not customers) believe it's too much braking.

My market has priority mode. Sounds basically the same. Get more rides but the rides pay less. Since my market is so slow I do believe priority mode is better than regular. If you can constantly swap between Uber and Lyft then you can make standard Lyft work.

it seems to me that Uber had the same type of deal, but the passenger has to do a reservation order, and so once I got notified of some kind of writing that some type of passenger had personally requested me and I'm pretty sure it was only for a few miles down the street for 5 or 10 dollars and I don't think that passenger is aware of how reservations work and that I would have to show up or be ready for 40 minutes and show up 20 minutes early and only get paid 5-10$ the way I remember it was it was a reservation ride and I was only getting paid a few bucks, and so I basically did not accept the ride which also made me unmatched from that person forever or something horrible,, it was a really bad system , it should not be set up as a reservation ride and instead just allow me to show up and pick that person up and drive them which would have been fine, but I'm not going to show up to a reservation ride for less than $20

Preferred driver is the same as Advantage/disadvantage (standard)

Preferred driver requirements: Smooth cruiser > 60 (measures braking, speed limits, etc) Safety flags < 3 Cancellation rate < 12% Acceptance rate > 25% I'm inadvertently a preferred driver, and it doesn't seem that different from standard. Today was extra slow and probably would have been either way

5 STAR Driver. driving for 8 years now off and on. high ranks and satisfaction on all but 1 criteria except I will never be a preferred driver simply because my acceptance rate is like 1%. LOL. These damn apps need to simply pay us instead of trying so damn hard to manipulate us into taking crappy low rides.

In smaller markets like the one im in, i have been asked that many times. How can i request you from the App ?? Its a very frequent question. If riders could see Available drivers then choose would be one way. But UB's so heavily manipulates the platform so its Favored to new drivers. All drivers are Not on the same playing field. The market im in is 20 diameter. Small markets are very reveling to there Nefarious ways.

well my are went from 90 something to 23 something in the past month now that lift is only offering $3 rides, it's strange enough even though I've been elite status for months now that I'm down to Gold even with the five-star rating where did they tell you you get paid a lot less but then they actually offer you more rides or some type of garbage so if you're offering me a $3 ride now you're going to offer me like $2.75 I would have to do 90 rides a day in order to earn what I'm accustomed to earning with Lyft or Uber in a good month, I should be earning $300 to $400 a day I would have to do over 90 rid of what lift is offering me currently, so I have never clicked on that preferred except less money for ride status thing because my research says that once you accept that or click on it it will just hold you at that and I'm driving a flex rental so I'm already getting paid 20% less average per ride

It’s funny, in Vegas they do 200-300 rides per hour on average even in morning, no additional money added like the $1.25-$2. Phoenix has 30-70 rides an hour on good days. Lyft uses very direct and insightful data that works in their favor. For example, the firm that did their data analysis on the difference between men and women drivers. The data shows women will take ANY ride, where as tho men try to get EVERY penny out the ride. So what did Lyft do? Women can request women drivers (it was win win) promoting xtra “safety” (when most of the time men drivers are in harms way more than the woman) and a choice, but underneath it, women typically drive more. If you guys aren’t gonna stop driving and make demands this show has no value besides helping the two delivering the content and that’s cool, but these apps have no cars, but by the time you drivers wake up, they will! My 2 cents.

It won't last long. I'll pyt this gimmick in the same category as the one where the passengers can take the cheaper ride where they walk to their destination. Passengers don't have the patience for waiting. Whoever is in the area. The majority of the passengers are to take that ride. Especially after Lyft and Uber took a big drivers loss during covid. The rider demsnds outweigh the supply.
