As an American, I had always heard about how much better the health care system is in the UK, but after following the saga of a friend's grandson in Wales, where this poor young teen has been waiting for assistance despite having been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, I don't think it's better. Yes, I have to pay for my premiums and co-pays, but I can also get in to see a doctor within a few hours. Having a 14-year-old boy suffer because the NHS is inept is inexcusable.
@Phylicity10 сағат бұрын
Yes it is but our NHS not perfect at the best of times has been overrun with the huge influx of immigrants we are having to try and cope with and no political party has the guts to deal with. Maybe Reform will but they are not currently in power. Starmers bunch of chancers and shysters are and they have ignored the immigrant problem totally, not even mentioned it. And Starmer swans around the globe ticking off each country in his I-Spy book! And now he needs a holiday! Oh dear his brother died so holiday cancelled! The immigrants meanwhile all get the immediate attention of a doctor and dentist, home in a good class hotel, meals and a new phone, pocket money etc etc, better than some Brits get even with a job. We certainly struggle to see a NHS doctor or dentist. And when you see a doctor he/she will be a stranger, not someone who knows you. And you will have to jump through many hoops and many weeks will pass before you see an actual specialist in the field of your complaint.

Hi Tracy, The UK NHS never used too be like it is now, you can wait 12 hrs too have a Blood Pressure test at a Hospital, and there can be 50/60 people in front of you before you get seen, and then you most likely have too wait again.

If you are a legal immigrant to the UK you have to pay an NHS surcharge. If you are a tourist you shouldn’t be allowed to disembark unless you can prove you have travel(health) insurance.
@Belles2510 сағат бұрын
I work for NHS. Legal immigrants do not pay a surcharge for NHS treatment. They get it free. Health tourists are supposed to pay, but many don't. Sunaks gov brought in a system where, if people left the country without paying, they could not return to UK until they paid. And it was starting to work. But Starmer cancelled the scheme.
@canuck31699 сағат бұрын
@ They pay an NHS surcharge as part of their immigration application. How much you have to pay The exact amount you pay depends on the length of your visa. A visa may last longer than your course of study or period of employment. Cost for a year You’ll have to pay: £776 per year for students, their dependants, and those on a Youth Mobility Scheme visa, for example £1,552 for a 2-year visa £776 per year for visa and immigration applicants who are under the age of 18 at time of application £1,035 per year for all other visa and immigration applications, for example £3,105 for a 3-year visa

I was in hospital in 2021 I'd been in and out with infection after infection. This went on for around 6 months. On my 3rd admission I asked a nurse that was on night duty if I could had something to help me sleep. I was told that the duty doctor was busy. I was then told I should have asked my consultant in ward round. I told her I didn't need it then and how the hell would I know I wasn't able to sleep. But to move forward a couple of months. I went in again this time finally I was given surgery. This went so wrong due to the physical damage Don to me during surgery. Years later I'm still not like I was. I had to undergo emergency surgery to repair this damage. Th NHS is a wonderful thing it does but great stuff but it needs emergency treatment. Put in private sector managers and management. I'm not saying privatise. But to get the books in order and stop all this waste of public money
@mareandickson305813 сағат бұрын
That's the problem with the management the now - they are running the NHS as a business - which to a degree it is, but it's people, ill & very sick people that the NHS is there for... management forget there's a human element at the end of the line - it would maybe help if they had to do 'compulsory' hours on the wards & see what the nurses & auxiliaries are putting up with..

Thé underground stations are filthy and the seats in the carriages are often so dirty you don’t want to sit on them
@professor-viewsalot3 сағат бұрын
Seat's? Last time that I travelled on a train (from Sevenoaks to London), for a professional high level meeting. I was proudly wearing my new 3 piece suit for the second time. The train was late into the station and when I got in, there were no seats. It was a cattle truck with cattle railings full of people - even in jeans, (no offence) all standing because the straw shreds on the floor were all soiled with poo's. The scum uk transport system charge for this personal assault and expect regular pay raises. The animal rights mob had probably just banned them from transporting cows & sheep to travel in these conditions. And it got worse much worse. I exit the train and got on the underground, what a relief to have a seat. In the tunnel, the train stopped, waited and waited then we were told there was a fire in a front carrage, so eventually (35 minutes later) the train slowly moved forward and we were all hurded off. Too late for my important meeting. So I started the journey home, got on the train, started relaxing on a seat! Thinking this thing is rattling along at a hell of a lick. Wow - we wizzed past a few stations and I thought - only 2 more and its me! Straight through my stop and the next and I got worried and shouted out to the few other people who all started shouting! I guess somebody pulled the emergancy stop? Then the train slowed down and stopped. The roof speaker then said "Hello, I am the driver, I am sorry, I fell asleep, we will stop at the next station and they will arrange taxies for you all". The train moved forward to the station, but on the platform, I was behind many other people. When I got to the ticket office they said there were no more taxis as they had all been used so I had to sit in the waiting room on a wood bench for over 2 more hours. The only train that I have been on since then was in Switzerland. I just named the destination & bought a ticket and thought wow that's not cheep. She told me and gave me a A4 paper printout of the train time in to the station at xx hours Xx minutes xx seconds, the train time to depart at xx hours Xx minutes xx seconds, the travel distance & duration to destination, time in to destination at xx hours xx minutes and xx seconds, the cost and colour and all sorts of extra info. So I got on the train and sat down, hmm this is well-ok I thought, high quality comfortable seats, clean high class trains just like I had been told. Then a man in a suit attended and asked for my ricket, no problem and I gave him my ticket, he said something foreign (I am English) I said no it ok I just bought the ticket at the station, he was'nt having any of my lip, He took my hand and pulled me up, & instructed me to follow him. Somebody explained to me - My ticket was 1st class and I was sitting in a low class seat, he took me upstairs to a setee and that's where I relaxed all journey. It's like Switzerland is 300 years ahead of us in uk now. Robert Louis Stephenson would be so (Justly) ashamed of britistan.

The NHS: Top-heavy with 'managers'. Some of these highly-paid people make rubbish decisions based on cronyism and a total lack of knowledge of the workforce. In one building that I have information about, there has been a junior manager's post that is a non-permanent appointment. The last incumbent wanted to get a mortgage, but knew she couldn't do so while just a temp, - so she went off to another job. The post was advertised, & a person applied for it, but pulled out when they learned what sort of post it was, so the staff have now got to limp along managing themselves without any influence or ability to defend themselves. Higher management doesn't seem to care, & the most senior one in their chain of command could sort this out in a heartbeat, - but is too busy faffing about & trying to justify her own huge pay-packet. The workers who do the day-to-day stuff are mainly diamonds, but the bloated management layers above them are their ball & chain.

Ed Siilyman was voted by Labour members to be the party's leader and could have been Prime Minister. Labour supporters have terrible judgement. How crap must the Tory Party be to lose to Labour?

Quite simply, if you haven’t paid your NatIns you don’t get it free. After 43 yrs of NatIns I had to pay for a shoulder replacement and non working able bodied young folk around where I live are getting everything including children that I didn’t have because I couldn’t afford them. Pay in or you won’t get out. That’s how any insurance works. I’m 77, get full state pension I worked for and paid for so I get no help with specs or dentist. Why did I bother? This country is finished. And why is anyone still paying their BBC licence? I wouldn’t insult my intelligence watching any mainstream news. Plenty to watch on Netflix, KZbin and catch-ups, not iPlayer. No way am I subsidising paedophiles.
