Probably one of the better thought-out and presented reviews on an electric powder dispenser, thank you!

At least it seems to be constantly over on your powder! Just have to compensate i guess. Thanks for the informative review!

Yeah, some powders it just doesn't care for, ha ha. For some I deliberately set it for a tenth of a grain lower and it does well enough there. I found doing that with W231 a few days ago worked.

I get the same results with my Lyman gen 6. I set it .1 grain less than I want to throw, and if it doesn't give that extra .1 over throwing I tap the tube to get closer.

Kind of annoying but at this price range it is what it is!

I like mine. But one problem is with certain ball powders it slows down and then the dispensing tube seizes up. It won’t work with Winchester 748 and 760. I read another person had the same problem and contacted Lyman. They suggested changing the seals. Which I tried. And it still has the same problem. Some ball powders it works. It does throw powder all over the place with some powders. I bought a taller tray that solved that problem. I end up using a manual balancing beam scale with some powders. Which is slow.

I've had some of those same issues. I dread dispensing something like H-110 because I know there will be plenty of that powder to clean up around the scale area. I've also experienced the occasional issue of the unit binding up due to powder in the seals that surround the feed tube. In my case, new seals did help most of the time but for fine powder it still occasionally happens. It is an issue for most powder measures though, be they volumetric or weight-based. My Hornady powder dispenser and the Lee Perfect Powder Pour both can bind up as powder builds up between the rotating part and the body that holds it. It's annoying but it is what it is. I've been meaning to buy a taller tray but I keep forgetting to do so, ha ha.

Well I found online the fix. Clean the. Rings with a Q tip. (Mine were filthy.) Then rub a little motor oil on them. I used high mileage Mobile One. Supposed to help soften seals. It turns smooth now. Ran some test runs. And it seams great now. Will be cleaning them every time now. Especially after using ball powders. I bought my tray off of eBay.

I like the idea of these but for volume loading I think the powder throwers are the way to go. Have you tried what the differences are with a short cut of the powder?
@TheRedneckPreppy2 жыл бұрын
Not formally but I know with H4831SC it was misery using it without the adaptor plug and better-ish with it in. H4831 mildly improves it but when it comes to use that powder I usually don't look forward to it. Fortunately I only use it in 6.5 Swede at the moment.

How does it do with Winchester 748 ball? Thank you Great review

I'll be honest with you, never used that powder. Seems to do reasonably well with ball powders in general though -- without trying it, I won't stake an opinion :-)

i like your video, i have a question, can i use this equipment for to reload 200 cartridges or is there a limit recommendation ?
@TheRedneckPreppy2 жыл бұрын
As long as there is powder in the hopper, you can run this. I haven't had any issues with long powder throwing sessions. I think on occasion I've done 300 and 400 cartridge sessions with it.

Did Lyman modify the tube to throw more accurate ?
@TheRedneckPreppy2 жыл бұрын
I am unaware of any changes to the Gen 6.

Since I rarely use a dispenser I made an offer on a used Gen 5 and hope it will do what I need it to. These things are getting expensive.

After 5/6 powder throws the scale shows 0.2 and then gives up, 0.3,0.4, etc what is causing this? I reset according to Lymans instructions

It tends to under throw by a tenth of a grain.

SAVE YOUR MONEY: I bought my Lyman just over two years ago for $250. It worked fairly well until it didn’t. One day with no warning it just quit working & wouldn’t zero the scale anymore rendering it useless. It gave readings all over the map. Scale drift was (4) full grains in a minuet. I contacted Lyman support; they gave me some things to try. It was no use. She never worked again. Bottom line… I got maybe 1000 rifle cases charged in the two years of use for $250. Save your money, buy something better. You don’t have to spend $1000 on a scale. But there are numerous other options out there. I went with the Hornady Auto Charge Pro for $340. We’ll see how that works.

I'm sorry to hear that yours didn't last and that Lyman wasn't able to help you. That would suck.
