A segment from PM Magazine-Dallas in 1983 with host Leeza Gibbons talking about Lynn Anderson's comeback. Partially shot in our studio, Omega Audio. That's me behind the Amek console in the opening and closing segments.
("I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" is muted due to copyright restrictions. It's not a problem with the video).

Most people just assume she is - that's how absurd it is that she isn't (yet).

She paved the way for so many artists particularly the females. Before her the women of country were singing in front of bales of hay on syndicated country TV shows. She helped open the door to nationwide television exposure which was a huge deal for female country artists and for country music in general. It's unforgivable she's not in the hall of fame. They keep passing over her every year.

She was the first mainstream female country superstar. On everything in the 70s and early 80s

Returning for about the 4th/5th time to watch. For Lynn fans, this is one of the coolest videos on YT. Also, a reminder of why I started liking country music ass a kid in the '70s. This lady proved to me every country star wasn't limited to Hee Haw back then, because she was on all the major talk, variety, etc. shows throughout the '70s. I'd venture to say she was country music's first mainstream superstar (yes, before Dolly).

Since she was from North Dakota, I figured she’d talk more like Joni Mitchell, a Canadian with a very thick prairie accent.

You're right, they didn't... Hard to get her entire history in only a 7 min. segment. I guess they were concentrating more on her comeback than on her past, other than major highlights. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

Actually, Leeza mentioned something about Mr. Welk, prompting Lynn to answer about "having thousands of bosses" as an entertainer.
