If Joan Crawford were the age she is here today and looking and sounding like that, she would be getting terrific parts in movies and on Netflix etc. Yet in the sixties they rarher abandoned virtually all their old stars who were reduced to budget horror films or nothing. Joan is mesmerising here. This is a star, her screen presence, her diction, her command, are all superb. She gives really interesting and revealing answers, none of which he seems to follow up.

I totally agree. I can't understand why they wouldn't give an actor of her caliber good scripts that would really sell a picture. It baffles me.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t know what ever happened to ladies acting ladylike and gentlemen being gentlemanly. Especially with the stars. Joan radiated class, beauty and what a lady should be.

She called Bette Davis a fascinating actress. So was she. Two very consummate, talented, extremely professional women who gave their sweat and tears to their careers. I am grateful to both of them for the impeccable legacy they left in the art of acting and move making.

I have a great respect for anyone who can publicly admit they were wrong about something. So many people struggle with that even when they're not famous, and can do it in private.

I think she must be under so much pressure during her life. She was so grateful and talented but the under score is believable that she was to fall. She did her best both professional and personally. It was what it was. RIP Joan

I AM 80 AND WHEN I WAS IN MY EARLY TWENTIES I GOT TO MEET MS. CRAWFORD ON THE SET OF "THE CARETAKERS"...WHY? BECAUSE MY FATHERS FRIEND WAS THE FATHER OF HALL BARTLETT THE DIRECTOR..IT WAS FILMED ON THE OLD RKO STUDIOS WHICH WAS THEN CALLED DESILU STUDIOS...SHE WAS MOST KIND TO A HICK FROM THE MID WEST....NO "I AM A STAR" ACT AT ALL.
4 жыл бұрын
I hope you're doing well, Jim. Thank you for commenting. It's not everyday we get to hear from someone who was actually, on the set with a great star like Joan Crawford. It gives me a certain thrill to reply to you. I wonder what part of the mid west you are from. I lived in Wisconsin for 10 years and enjoyed the people a great deal.

Joan Crawford was a tough broad but that was because life made her that way. I truly respected her work ethic, how she led and conducted herself during her career . she had an incredible work ethic and she was a great actress. She created herself to become a lady and a great star! And who respected all the support from her fans. they simply do not make them like that, she was one of a kind and may she rest in peace. Thank you for keeping her memory alive.
@vivwalker58835 жыл бұрын
I found one of the most endearing moments in the interview was Joan's admission that she didn't get beyond grade five and had to look up certain words in scrips and learn how to pronounce them. This was laying bare her vulnerability publically. She was a consummate, nuanced thespian.

It was unfair how hollywood those days treated her towards the end of her career, unlike today where Jane Fonda is still active and acting. Furthermore Joan Crawford looked stunning in this interview.

That's a fckuing brilliant interview! Crawford comes across quite sweet, cunning and genuine. If you look closely though you can sometimes see the contempt and arrogance shimmering in her eyes and the hypocrisy behind her sometimes too spontaneous smiles. One thing people don’t often think about with Joan is that she made it through every single phase of the film industry progression, beginning as a dancer, studio contract player, made it from silent to talkies, then reinvented herself every single decade. In fact she may be the only female star to do so. A true original movie star,🌟 She was a huge influence on me as far as her glamour and style bc I’ve watched her films since I was a kid.

A great great actress... Nothing of this from actresses in films today... Women of Joan Crawford, Katherine Hepburn, Barbara Stanwick and Marilyn Monroe were very strong women. “Tallulah Bankhead” my god... So much money to be made or lost I loved Joan’s response of “So much talent to be lost too.” I alI hope someone in present Hollywood will pay attention. This interview os a gem.

My favorite actress of all time. I think she is much better than Bette Davis. I think about all the plastic surgery of today, would Joan of indulged? Joan would look so much more attractive without those dark, heavy eyebrows. A very beautiful woman indeed. Thank you for continuously posting new or (old) unseen footage of Joan.
@proudmarinemomma8275 жыл бұрын
I think Joan would have indulged with the big plastic surgery nightmare. Wrinkles and possibly facelifts. I like her eyebrows. I guess because we’ve seen all the plucked, tiny, straight line eyebrows for a long time during that age and time. I hated when my daughters would pluck too much of their eyebrows during the 90’s etc...I liked Brooke shields natural beauty. Now, we have the regular to big eyebrows back. It’s all just a big circle of life. All of the fads and trends come back around. I do enjoy that part of it. I prefer all the women through the past. We had real life beauties! Today, women thrive to change their looks, as in plastic surgery. Big, bulbous breasts that are very unnatural; nose jobs, fat blown up lips, wigs, ass implants, chin implants....etc....they change every aspect of their faces. They lose their real beauty. They are doing these things in their teens and twenties. I don’t understand that or the parents allowing it at a young age. So many beautiful women, have destroyed their looks and don’t think of what they will look like as they really age. Ex: Michael Jackson destroyed his handsome looks. He went too far. Kim kardashian ruined her natural Armenian look. Kylee Jenner has tried to look like the Armenian sisters, instead of focusing on her natural cute girl next door look. She now looks older and like a tramp. The mother is to blame for much of this. I’d never advertise & push for the sex tapes of her daughter. This could go on and on. It’s okay to be unique....to show your natural beauty.....
@passionfruitfruit5 жыл бұрын
The heavy eyebrows only came during the later period of her life&movies. Watch her early movies where she's 20-40something, and you'll not see them 🙂
