I still cannot read the death of Farley without my eyes tearing up a little. I really lose it in the strip where John says '... But I didn't think that a heart so big would ever stop beating.'

For all of us who have lost pets, seeing the Family go through this is, in a sense, cathartic. Thanks for the reality.

Last week I cried deeply at your Farley cartoon and now today April 28 it was even more touching as we too have lost many dogs in our married life of 60 years.We are both 80. Having the feeling of our dogs walking near us or in the middle of the night sensing a scratching on the mattress to let us know they wanted to have us bend down and pick them up on to the bed with us as they were to old to jump on the bed without our help anymore. Was so very true. My tears just overwhelmed me and I sobbed like a child. The way Farley passed was so much easier than when we had to take our dogs to the vet to be euthananised over the years. You never forget..you just put our beloved dogs in a special place in your heart. Hoping it won't hurt so bad. But you never forget. Every year Nick puts flowers on their graves and stands back and says I hope they're the prettiest ever.... Thank you and God bless you. We can tell you are a very kind soul. Bye for now. When I read about Farley's death I felt sad. But at least he died a hero saving April's life. RIP Farley! You were such a brave dog!😭

greatest vomic strip next to Peanuts ever I loved how the kids grew up into adults and Farley passing made me cry and remember having my pet pass away in 1987 and gave me strength in 2002 when my second dog passed

I couldn't accept it when I first read it. This was one of my favorite strips, and to see this happen was unreal. I kept re-reading it, thinking I missed something and hoping that I was wrong.

I remember when this happened. I saved the clippings of this comic from this event. I was delivering papers back then. i was living in Germany, so I had no idea about the OKC bombing. I now live in OKC though.

I bawl every time I read story about Farley's death and I've read it multiple times. Just a fun fact: Old English Sheepdogs live between 13-15 years and Farley was 14, so it actually fit. Also, Charles Schultz reaction to it always makes me laugh a lot.

*'Farley' did what his deepest instincts told him to do...to pull his 'little human girl-pup' from the water and the effort was too much for his old heart* *But Farley would have it no other way, just as all 'good dogs' would do* ___________ ( *Humans do NOT deserve 'Dogs' because our hearts are too impure, too malicious and polluted with filthy thoughts* ) *It is 'we' who are unworthy of them, because they love us with the heart of the guileless who know only 'live life every moment to the fullest' something very few humans are capable of because our complex minds won't allow it* *Their love for us is pure and has no codicils of 'maybe'*

Why does this channel have less that 500 subscribers? For Better or Worse was my favorite strip growing up. In part because I was around the same age as the older kids and they were going through the same things I was going through.

I don't get why the parents or the Grandmother did not watch April. I know kids don't listen at times. But, Still. They should've watched April and i do now that Farley is an old dog and his time was up. It was really sad that he couldn't take the shock of the water and the cold since that is what cause his heart to give out. Its a good thing he did save April.

The adults are only human. Elly was busy showing her friend Connie pictures that she and John took on their cruise. John was on the phone. I don't know where Grandma was at. April was trying to get their attention to ask if she could play outside but they were too busy to bother with her. I'm sure that her parents felt guilty about not watching her close after the incident.

I think the later strips, April goes to school to persue veterinary medicine. Her life was saved by an animal so she could grow up to save the lives of animals.

Wow, I didn't think Shultz threatened her to kill off his own dog character Snoopy if she killed off Farley and that no one will ever "read her stupid strip again!" If there was any truth to what Lynn said about him, that's pretty disappointing since he didn't seem like the kind of person to do or say anything like that. Then again, we as humans don't usually know a person as much as we think we do so who knows. I still love the Peanuts though, and I like For Better or for Worse even though I didn't read it as much.

I think she was trying to say he loved the strip and was emotionally invested. You're interpreting his words as poorly as you may.

Why are you putting ud through Farley's death . . . again? This is so sad, and totally unnecessary. Are you going to restart the comicstrip yet again in a could of years and make us go through this for a 3rd time?
@vasglorious3 жыл бұрын
I happy Farley went out a heroic death, instead a sad trip to the vet, and the tells them your dog is dying, and we have to put him down. As real as that may be, it's truly depressing and heart breaking, I should know, I've dealt with many painful dog deaths.
@barrjet9 ай бұрын
Farley was a cartoon dog, and could live 100 years. You killed off a beloved character, and too often create a drama strip instead of an entertainment strip. I have enough drama and sorrow in my life. I'll never read this strip again. Long live Snoopy!

Every time you kill Farley again I come here as say bad thing about Lynn as I watch this. 🙂 But, as with Spock dying, maybe it prepared many of kids for real life deaths. PS I think Charles calling April stupid was not just accurate, clearly he was saying something about how angry he was with LJ, without calling her names directly.
@gutrumbles22269 ай бұрын
To quote Don Vito Corleone... "Some things I do *not* forgive." And, this heartless woman killing off Farley is one of them. I stopped reading her strip that day, haven't since, aren't now and won't ever again. If Snoopy can be 56 years old, don't give me a bunch of crap about living sheep dogs and their longevity. Completely irresponsible parenting is what killed Farley and there is nothing heroic about that.

I'm glad that she gave him a heroic death and not let him suffer or have the vet put him to sleep.
