Please help me I'm so confused with this band. I recently came across this fantastic band and love their music. I Know they died in a plane crash. When and who died? I'm from Australia.

On Oct 20, 1977, the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band's plane crashed. Two band members, Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, along with Cassie Gaines (backup singer and Steve's sister), died in the crash. Although 5 band members survived, they decided not to reform as Lynyrd Skynyrd at that time. Then, in 1987, they reformed with Ronnie's brother, Johnny Van Zant, as lead singer. Since that time, there have been numerous other deaths and departures, and in 2023, the last original remaining member in the current lineup, Gary Rossington, passed away. Current guitarist Rickey Medlocke was in the band way back when (as a drummer) before they got a record contract. They have decided to keep touring as Lynyrd Skynyrd at this time. JVZ has been with the band now for 37 years and Medlocke for about 28 years.

Artimus Pyle their drummer from 75 to 77 I believe is still alive and has his own band, but he is not one of the originals. The band in the video is a cover band practically

Yes they are gone and I wonder what if. But that being said this band has kept the music alive longer than the original.
