Great song written by the amazing J.J. Cale. Skynyrd does it justice. Ronnie expends less energy onstage than any front man I've ever seen, but damn can he sing!

I'm glad you're diving into the bands history. Those of us who lived thru this era have much respect for this band and I'm sure you are getting there. As far as what's next? Anything from the original band will be great. They don't have many bad songs(if any). Here's a couple of blues tracks you might like. Mr Banker I need you.

I agree Mr Banker is a great Blues tune... so is "The Four Walls of Raiford". If you haven't done so, check out Jamey Johnson's cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Four Walls of Raiford"! You can thank me later.

This is Knebworth. Where Mick Jaggar requested they not venture out onto "the tongue" portion of the stage....which RVZ of course did, and where the fans nearly rioted when the Stones came out, wanting MORE SKYNYRD!!! The day they blew the Stones off the stage! Champagne all around on the flight home!!!!

Wow that brought back memories! I'm from NW Georgia and remember seeing them live at the Fox Theater in 1976. I was 16 yrs. old and my parents had no idea that I was there. Lol. I also remember clearly the very next year when their plane crashed. I was at a friend's house and when we heard the news on the radio we cried like babies. Oops! I gave away my age. They had so many good songs but, one of my favorites was and still is I Need You. Thanks for this tonight.

@@hardtimes1267 Yeah I didn't realize how lucky I was. I've been to so many concerts that it's hard to remember who all they were. We didn't have much else to do as teenagers. After I graduated from H.S.I moved to Texas with my parents and saw several good ones in Houston and Dallas too. Good old days!

It's nice to support your favorite band, but c'mon. The people there got a great show from both bands, I'm sure. I personally like LS better, but still. You can't take a good show from the Stones as well. Please let people like what they like and stop pitting people against each other. I'm sure the entire concert was fantastic.

Love your energy and enthusiasm for the band and their music. Just bcz this music took place in another era, by no means does it not make it relevant. Those of us who grew up listening to these guys during their presence appreciate your excitement. Although the original members are now reunited playing the Great Gig In The Sky, music that makes you feel good and glad to be alive never dies. Peace brother.

This really drew me in. But man, it's a shame that the video didn't show Billy Powell going off three times in a row man. That's a huge disappointment for that. I had the privilege to see them at the Strawberry Festival, their first show after Gary Rossington's passing. It was dedicated to him and was really well done, so hyped I went. Glad they're still kicking and making and performing great music. Nothing could beat the pre-crash Skynyrd though. And yes! The documentary was incredible and it made me love the band so much more.

This is from the infamous and now legendary Knebworth Festival where they were forbidden from entering the "tongue" at the front of the stage, which was reserved for the Stones. Skynyrd took up the challenge, trampled the "tongue" on Freebird to finish a blistering set that set the crowd abuzz and blew all the "famous" bands (before and after) off the stage .This included the Rolling Stones.

They always had a discipline that allowed the real clean skills each musician had....shine, be heard, & blend into each other again. Impressive among a herd of other southern rock bands- the Allman Brothers being the top tier exception. Billy Powell on keys was often overlooked, but oh my, was he good. I was living at Jax (Jacksonville) Beach, bartending in clubs when some of them rolled in (Jax was their home base).Rossington jumped on my bar in a full-length , on his side, 'cover-girl' pose...held it for a few...& left. Well, O.K. then.

Biz honestly there is not a bad song from pre77 Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their top five albums pre77, Top twenty songs pre77, The thing with Lynyrd Skynyrd the line up was sometimes three guitarist, For awhile just Allen and Gary playing but they cut Billy loose on the piano Then they found Steve he put a fire under their ass and this show here Knebworth 76 this was Steves ninth time playing with the band. To me Knebworth 76 is their ultimate concert. The Stones were the headliners and Lynyrd Skynyrd was not very well know in the UK at that time. By the time the last note of FreeBird played they were legendary. They had been SKYNYRDIZED.. AUGUSTA GA

Check out Boogie on Reggae Woman by Stevie Wonder from the early 70s and it's the first use at least generally recognized that way, and I don't know any information to the contrary but the first use like a synthesizer bass. I mean, I was a little kid when that came out but with the time I was a musician like in high school and going on into the early 80s in my college Years and Beyond, I could play all kinds of stuff. And this still gets to me every time. It means a lot for some reason. I can't explain it. It's just really really good and having watched a lot of your reactions, I just know you would totally dig it if you're not already familiar with it of course. But either way I would love to still see your reaction to it.

❤Hey Biz love the reaction!! ❤ I would love for you check out some cuts from Skynyrd's live album, "One More From The Road" ('76). The sound quality for a live album is superb. Considered one of the best sounding live albums ever recorded actually. My fav version of "Free Bird" is on that album. There's 2 versions - the album was recorded over two nights at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I believe the one at 14:22 with the note (live - undubbed) to be the superior version. It's the cut that was original to that album before the album released, made Deluxe, expanded and whatever else they threw in later on. 😊 It's also interesting to compare the two "Free Bird" versions as they vary a bit. Lynyrd Skynyrd was an excellent band live - they played so damn good, the music oozed out of each member effortlessly. 🕊BTW - Which documentary did you watch? There's several. I've seen them all and my personal fav is "Gone With the Wind - The Remarkable Rise and Fall...." It contains the most info on the band's early history. If you watch the many docs on LS, you'll notice conflicting info depending on the band member. These interesting nuggets and opinions contribute to making the history of LS so legendary. ❤ Lovin' your channel - as always!! ❤

The guy with the shorter hair on guitar was named Steve Gaines. You’ve just GOT to hear what he was doing before he joined Skynyrd. There are a few recordings of him pre-Skynyrd out there, mostly of the last two bands he was in before joining Ronnie and the guys. The first was called Detroit, and featured the late Rusty Day from Cactus (America’s answer to Led Zeppelin, according to 1971’s Cream Magazine). The second and final pre-Skynyrd band Steve was in was his own brainchild, called Crawdad. They recorded an album for Capricorn Records in 1975, but it wasn’t released until eleven years after the plane crash, marketed as a Steve Gaines solo album when it really wasn’t. He’s one of my favorite guitarists and songwriters of all time! Great singing voice, too. Here’s a recording of Steve playing with Rusty and Detroit, the “Driftwood tape.” kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJTSpGWQg9Jgq5I

Stephen Gaines is who you're talking about and yeah he was Cassie's brother and she was one of the backup singers and he was a phenomenal guitar player in front of the band on a more Regional scale before Lynyrd Skynyrd grab him up. But he had been jamming with them on and off for a long time so it was a perfect fit. And then of course the plane crash happen not long after. But I sure do love celebrating the stuff in check out there song off their last album Street survivors right before the plane crash with Stephen Gaines showing off a little bit on two different songs for sure. I know a little, and the other song is, Honky Tonk night time man.
