@andystransportchannel7784 On par equal to Allen? That's hilarious! For starters there isn't a person alive that is equal to Allen Collins when it comes to the solo on Freebird. To date Ed is probably the closest I've ever heard to playing it very close to Allen. Ricky isn't even half the guitar player that Ed King was & to say that Ricky went out of his way to play a similar guitar as Allen makes me scratch my head. It's the exact same model Allen used. Another thing is Ricky went on record to say he never wanted to play it exactly like Allen & truth be known it's because he couldn't anyways

He had written her name at the top followed by the lyrics to freebird and signed it " from one survivor to another, Ronnie Van Zant "

Went and saw this band on October 4, 1987 in Pittsburgh. As a long time fan who never got to see the original band...........it was magical when those guys took the stage that night for me.

Only like a handful of their songs. But they are by far my fav group of guys to ever be in a band, such a class act and cool group of people. RIP Ronnie - coolest front man ever.

One of the most memorable moments I ever had was to see the Rossington Collins band on their much abbreviated first tour. They did the songs from their first album and then they shined the spotlight on the microphone with Ronnies' hat on top and played Freebird just like here. It was so spooky and the place was so quiet you could here a pin drop.

I'm not an Artemus fan but in this case, he was right. These were all great people who play an important part in LS's legacy.

Gotta give them props tho they got the allen tone and he killed the solo and it was an amazing performance especially their little added part towards the end of the solo but no one will ever play it like allen did because that man is a legend and will always be. R.I.P allen

I only recognized Artimus by his voice... he didn’t look the same without his beard, and Billy gained a ton of weight by 87’. I wish Ed King never left the group. he wrote so many great songs for the band. Growing old really sucks... only three on that stage are left! I would like to meet Ed one day.

That's Ed King. Guitarist for Skynyrd. He played on that solo when there were 3 guitar players. He does a damn good job of keeping up with that solo

The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band played with heart. In today's world it's all about the money. Greed full throttle. You see it in professional sports , music and movies. They were great. God Bless them🕯🙏🕯
@mattsowder79782 жыл бұрын
Skynyrd has been only about the money since the plane crash. It's no Skynyrd it's a tribute band riding Ronnie's coattails.
@kevinmalone3210 Жыл бұрын
@@mattsowder7978 I'll agree with that, but alot of people seem to like the tribute band, but who am I to judge. The revived Skinner can come no where near the original. It should've died when Van Zant did. This memorial tribute to Van Zant and the other band members was good though.

This is the only time I have heard free bird played as well as Allen used to play it thanks to the awesome Ed King. The new Lynyrd Skynyrd are not a patch on the original band in my view. And I saw the original one a few times in the UK. Best band I have ever seen live. God bless them. x
