Rachel S this is Jeff Yoder the ol'broke down scooter tramp, exbiker, Vietnam 🇻🇳 Era veteran, and I agree with your comments about lynrd skynrd 💯 percent and I'm thinking that the popularity still of most of the Southern Rock band s is still due to their pro American attitudes and older and newer fans they have who embrace and accept and adopt those pro American attitudes and I'm thinking 💭 all the venues where either the stars and bars flag (rebel flag ) and the American (red white and blue)flag, may both be hung side by side as a backdrop for the big name Southern Rock bands that are still touring around this country and beyond

I first discovered/heard Freebird when I went over to the U S on a training course for United States Surgical Corporation. It was 1978 the year my first son was born. Although the song had been released a couple of years earlier it was getting a lot of plays on American radio. It became my favourite song and still remains to this day one of the most played tracks. My second son was born 4 years later in 1982. Tragically he died on 13th July 2018 so now every time I play Freebird I imagine Andrew flying free as a bird, free from the depression and anxiety that caused him to take his own life.
