Bravo~!!

They must have been short on time because they took that incredibly fast, didn't take any repeats, and skipped an entire section of the piece...
@lukasmarecek16375 жыл бұрын
BigBeefPackage It was just an encore and on a festival, so it needed to be short.
@OaktownGirl2 жыл бұрын
@@lukasmarecek1637 I can understand that, but maybe they should have done an arrangement of something else. The temp here was so so fast that for me the pulse (and therefore the heart) of the piece was lost.

Umm... why is the cellist using vibrato on the body of the instrument at 4:02???
@alexandrecoragem33837 жыл бұрын
Ari Evan you cant use vibrato in solo chords so you use the vibrato in the cello so you can make the same effect
@AzimHashimov7 жыл бұрын
yep Coragem explained correctly. Also you can do vibrato on adjacent string with lets say 3rd finger, so you will get vibrato spreaded to the sound.

As much as I am impressed by the virtuosity of these two, I really did not care for this performance otherwise for mostly tempo related issues except for the last section. This is the absolute best I've heard of the Allegro con Fuoco in every way. Crisp and clean.Yummy.I love how quickly the cello speaks.
@jansnauwaert17856 жыл бұрын
I agree. Too fast (the music didn't "breathe") and too many tempo fluctuations (lack of steadiness). Halvorsen is not mere display of virtuosity and that is what this performance was. Didn't like it (at all).

It looks like they kept true to Handel's original tempo of q=120. At these speeds, this is more technical than expressive.

The last double stop he plays is on two open strings. You can achieve a vibrato on both by vibrating on the body, since there are no fingers on the fingerboard. :)
@HghPrstss12 жыл бұрын
Where did you reference Handel's original tempo? And can you please tell me what the original instrumentation was? I know it was for harpsichord and ~eep I can't remember~ I think that this tempo would work on a harpsichord. But I agree with you. about the more t than e. In my International part, the metronome markings don't go above 92bpm. I have the vln/vla arrangement, and I've played the vla/c arrangement w/ Peters Ed. parts. I'm older now and my memory may just be getting tired.

Compare the tempo here to that of Perlman/Zukerman (also on YT). The latter's slower tempo allows for a much more expressive interpretation, IMO.

As he ended on open G and D strings, it's also possible to add a little warmth to the sound by doing that (instead of vibbing on a G on the C string e.g.). Awesome performance and the Brahms that preceded it was beautifully played too.
